Overview of Position

The Senior Director, COO Organization Communications will partner with the Chief Operating Officer (COO) and his Leadership Team to create and execute a proactive communications strategy for colleagues and external partners. Additionally, they will possess a broad understanding and experience related to transformation and change communications along with a strategic mindset on how to bring initiatives to life for employees and colleagues, including those based abroad. This role will partner with both the Communications and COO teams to ensure both organizations work seamlessly together and share messages and updates as part of enterprise communications activities.

This individual contributor reports to the Head of Communications and will collaborate closely with other communicators across the organization. The successful candidate will sit on both the Communications Leadership Team and COO Leadership Team.

Responsibilities:

  • Trusted Advisor:
    • Serve as a trusted strategic advisor to the Corebridge COO, the COO Leadership Team, and other leaders in collaboration with fellow members of the Corebridge Communications Team.
    • Represent the COO Leadership Team across the Marketing & Communications organization to make certain the right considerations and sensitivities are considered when enterprise employee messages are created and distributed.
    • Manage complex, fast-moving, and unexpected communications challenges.
    • Build strong relationships with internal clients, partners, and peers across the enterprise.

  • Communication Strategy: 
    • Lead the creation of communications strategies, utilizing various methods to drive employee engagement across the organization including through skip level meetings, town hall, videos, campaigns, and challenges. Oversee the production of Town Halls, including invitations, post-event surveys and brand compliance/messaging of content.
    • Drive a communications calendar to ensure a steady cadence of compelling content to drive engagement, understanding and inclusion across multiple audience groups for all areas within the COO Organization.
    • Manage the regular communication cadence and day-to-day activities related to COO Organization communications.
    • Identify and analyze priorities and audience needs to deliver messages via the most appropriate mix of media and channels.
    • Identify creative solutions and approaches to drive engagement.
    • Drive qualitative and quantitative reporting metrics that can demonstrate success against desired and stated outcomes.

  • Transformation Journey: 
    • Evangelize the "next state" vision and strategy for the customer experience and operations throughout the organization and to key partners and audiences.
    • Communicate with sales teams on our progress and transformation changes to support our business and develop talking points to communicate consistently about where we stand and next steps.
    • Develop and execute impactful communications that support our Transformation. Create and continually evolve messaging on our journey, progress, and the future state.
    • Design and develop Transformation-related content to include in employee town halls across Corebridge.

  • Enterprise Resiliency
    • Serve as communications point of contact for enterprise resiliency matters.

  • External Partners
    • Increase engagement with external partners to build the connection with Corebridge and business understanding.
    • Ongoing education for external partners in the service centers to teach them our customer base and the need to foster a deeper understanding of the business, create better connectedness, and nurture empathy for our customers.

What you need to know

  • Bachelor’s degree required.
  • 10+ years of relevant experience developing and crafting communications, focused on transformation and change management, within a highly complex, public company. Experience in a highly regulated industry preferred but not required.
  • Deep and broad business acumen.
  • Ability to provide communications advice and counsel to various stakeholders and to present and support a point of view with senior leaders and colleagues regarding how best to communicate complex matters.
  • Clear thinker with the ability to translate strategy and goals into desired outcomes through meaningful communications and activities.
  • Significant experience creatively capturing and communicating the voice and priorities of senior executives.
  • Creative and innovative thinker, consistently applying new ideas and measuring and monitoring effectiveness of initiatives and activities over time.
  • Ability to communicate knowledgeably and credibly with senior management and other internal constituents, clearly outlining the risk/rewards, and offering well thought-out solutions and recommendations.
  • Confident, friendly, and collaborative communication style; ability to creatively problem-solve and share best practices with a range of stakeholders throughout the organization.
  • Strong relationship management, interpersonal, influencing and networking skills; track record of breaking down silos and building relationships across a large enterprise.
  • Effective communication, project management, facilitation, conflict resolution, analysis, and strategic thinking skills.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Strong collaborator with excellent judgment and commitment to the highest standards of delivery and execution.
  • Able to adapt and adjust to strategic business demands and impacts of organizational change.

For positions based in Jersey City, NJ the base salary range is $110,000-$180,000 and the position is eligible for a bonus in accordance with the terms of the applicable incentive plan.
