Job Description

Barge master specific:

1) Undertake all operations according to the Company’s HSE policies and local regulations, as communicated by superiors and as dictated by common sense.

2) Take full responsibility for the complete mobilisation, deployment, maintenance and demobilisation of the SEP.

3) Ensure all required equipment are in good condition and available at the time of operation. Manage the Barge Crew in the operation.

4) To ensure client satisfaction throughout the contract, build successful relationships each time and create a client focused atmosphere within the team.

5) To communicate with local authorities as appropriate.

6) To ensure compliance with all marine legislation, classification and port regulations.

Driller specific:

The barge master can be asked to work as a driller when required by his superiors.

1)    Perform drilling duties as specified by technical parameters and within the specific time limits and aim to maximise production output.

2)    Conduct drilling and associated works at project locations for obtaining samples for soil investigation

3)    Handle and store all samples as per the Company’s procedure and standards.

4)    Inform Site Supervisors about all drilling information and events on site, so that they can be logged accurately by the responsible person.

5)    Immediately inform a Superior or Senior team member in case of any difficulty in doing the work as specified.

6)    Ensure that drilling tools of correct specifications are available in good working condition and maintained.

7)    Store and keep drilling tools and equipment clean and in good working condition from the time of project mobilisation until return to stores/yard.

8)    Ensure that all faults, breakage or malfunctioning of tools are immediately reported to the Site Supervisor.

9)    As a member of the site team, work in complete coordination and cooperation with other employees.

10)  Coach new employees if asked to do so.

Qualifications required:

1)    General schooling with relevant Technical / Trade School certificate preferred.

2)    Good English verbal and written

3)    Good Portugese verbal and written

Skills / experience required to do the job:

1)    5 years of experience in a barge master role leading a small team 3-5 persons

2)    Ability to do routine drilling activities on shore or near shore / off shore without need for guidance.

3)    Good sense of handling a drill and related equipment in different types of soils and environ mental conditions.

4)    Fully understand the implications for all major symbols used for Technical guidance and for HSE issues on site.

5)    Ability to execute fault finding and solve problems on the systems on board the SEP
