Minimum two years experience in business analytics, financial modeling, or healthcare operations, preferable in academic medical center or physician practice preferred.

Location: Lurie Children's Hospital Main Campus, Downtown Chicago

Schedule: Hybrid (3-4 days in office), Business hours

General Summary:    

The Senior Business Analyst provides advanced analytical and operational support to Lurie Children’s Medical Group (LCMG), enabling data-driven decision-making and performance improvement across departments and divisions. Reporting to the Director of Business Operations and Analytics, this role serves as a key partner to LCMG and Department leadership by developing financial models, analyzing complex datasets, and creating actionable insights related to financial performance, resource utilization, and growth initiatives. The Senior Business Analyst plays a central role in advancing LCMG’s business intelligence capabilities and supporting initiatives that improve efficiency, financial outcomes, and quality of care.

Essential Job Functions:

  • Leads the preparation, analysis, and presentation of monthly and quarterly financial and operational reports for LCMG departments and divisions, identifying key trends, risks, and opportunities.
  • Partners with Department and Division Administrators to evaluate business performance, conduct variance analyses, and develop recommendations to improve efficiency, cost management, and volume growth.
  • Supports LCMG Leadership and Department Leaders in the preparation and coordination of annual budgets and long-range financial forecasts within both the Hospital and University systems.
  • Designs and maintains advanced dashboards, visualizations, and models to monitor departmental metrics, physician productivity, and fiscal year goals.
  • Provides in-depth analyses supporting compensation reviews, market comparisons, recruitment planning, and business case development.
  • Collaborates with the Business Operations Consultant and Director to support ongoing improvements to the Faculty and Provider Hub, ensuring accuracy of data and alignment with LCMG policies.
  • Leads or contributes to special projects that improve reporting systems, analytical processes, and the integration of financial and operational data across teams.
  • Provides consultative support to committees and initiatives, including the Revenue Cycle Committee and Finance Committee, helping translate analytical findings into actionable strategies.
  • Prepares executive-level presentations and briefing materials for LCMG Leadership to support strategic planning, budget discussions, and performance reviews.
  • Upholds Lurie Children’s service principles with a focus on innovation, collaboration, and service excellence.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Business, Finance, Economics, Healthcare Administration, or a related field required; Master’s degree (MBA, MHA, MPP, or related) preferred.
  • Minimum of two years of experience in business analytics, financial modeling, or healthcare operations, preferably in an academic medical center or physician practice environment.
  • Advanced analytical and quantitative skills with demonstrated ability to perform complex financial modeling and variance analysis.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Excel (advanced functions, pivot tables) and data visualization tools such as Power BI or Tableau.
  • Strong communication and presentation skills with the ability to synthesize complex data into clear, actionable insights for leadership audiences.
  • Demonstrated initiative and independence in managing projects and meeting deadlines across multiple priorities.
  • Proven ability to work collaboratively across diverse teams and organizational levels.
  • Strong organizational and problem-solving skills with attention to detail and process improvement orientation.

Pay Range

$70,720.00-$115,627.20 Salary

The pay range for this job indicates minimum and maximum targets for the position.
