Material Handler

Charter Wire’s 81st Street facility is currently looking to fill a 1st shift Material Handler role. Material Handlers prepare outgoing shipments and receive incoming materials in a fast‑paced, detail‑oriented warehouse environment.

What do you need to know about the job?

Pay Rate – $22/hr

Shift – 1st Shift, 7am–3pm, Monday–Friday

Location – 7850 N. 81st Street, Milwaukee, WI 53222

What does a Material Handler at Charter Wire do?

Material Handlers support the safe, accurate, and timely movement of materials throughout the facility. This position plays a key role in ensuring orders ship correctly and production areas receive the materials they need.

Shipping Duties

  • Prepare orders for shipment according to shipping practices and requirements.

  • Assemble and verify orders, pack materials, apply shipping instructions, plant‑specific labels, and load outbound trucks.

Receiving Duties

  • Receive incoming materials, supplies, equipment, and returned goods.

  • Verify incoming shipments against purchase orders or receiving slips.

  • Prepare receiving reports and complete inventory transactions.

  • Route materials to appropriate storage or production areas.

General Responsibilities

  • Participate in warehouse organization and stock rotation.

  • Ensure materials are stored in proper locations.

  • Enter inventory and material data into the ERP system.

  • Demonstrate accuracy, quality focus, and thoroughness in all tasks.

Minimum Qualifications

  • High School Diploma or GED equivalent.

  • Forklift experience.

  • Ability to meet physical requirements of the job, with or without accommodation.

  • Strong attention to detail and ability to work on multiple tasks.

  • Ability to follow instructions and work well with others.

  • Basic math, reading, and communication skills.

  • Proficient basic computer skills.

  • Practical understanding of shop math.

  • Ability to work flexible hours as required (including holidays/weekends).

Preferred Qualifications

  • 1+ years of shipping/receiving or warehouse experience.

  • Experience with bar‑code scanning systems.

  • Ability to load trucks for shipment.
