The Consumer Banking Business Development Director manages multiple teams through other managers. In-depth understanding of how own sub-function contributes to achieving the objectives of the function. A good understanding of the industry, direct competitors' products and services, is also necessary in order to contribute to the commercial objectives of the business. Requires thorough understanding of strategic direction of the function within the relevant part of the business, combined with a solid conceptual/practical grounding in both the function and/or area of expertise and related subject areas. Excellent communication skills required in order to negotiate internally, often at a senior level. Some external communication/negotiation may be necessary. Responsible for executing functional strategy in area managed. Determines approach to implementing functional strategy. Accountable for end results, budgeting, planning, policy formulation and contribution to future strategy of the area(s). Impact reflects size of team managed, strategic influence on the business and interaction with other functions or businesses. Full management responsibility for multiple teams, including management of people, budget and planning, to include duties such as performance evaluation, compensation, hiring, disciplinary actions and terminations and budget approval. May be doing involved or responsible for diverse (cross-discipline) activities. Typically, a direct report to a C16 role and function as an intergral member of the functional leadership team within a country/site location, job family, or line of business.

Responsibilities:

  • This senior leader will own the product profit and loss (P&L) and will lead the team responsible for creating, growing and delivering the P&L, customer product offerings and product pricing. In addition, this role and his/her team will own and drive all digital capability acceleration efforts/projects to provide new, best-in-class digital features and capabilities.
  • Additional responsibilities include:
  • Identify forward-compatible top talent inside and outside of the organization. Ongoing leadership of the team and creation of an innovative, play-to-win culture
  • Partner closely with internal stakeholders to re-design business models, drive new customer acquisition efforts, deepen existing customer relationships through the refinement and creation of compelling product offerings
  • Accountable for business economics, outcomes and roll out of digital acceleration efforts including the development and tracking of Key Performance Indicators (KPIs) to measure business impact and P&L management and tracking against targets
  • Establish governance of all initiatives including continuous communication with partner business organizations, as well as compliance and legal departments, to ensure all products are within guidelines and standards and appropriately mitigate risk
  • Recommend and influence digital product strategy at senior management levels in the organization
  • Analyze product trends on a national level to target new customers, outside the traditional Citi footprint, and identify potential sales opportunities in order to stay ahead of Citi’s competitors and produce new growth streams
  • Appropriately assess risk when business decisions are made, demonstrating particular consideration for the firm's reputation and safeguarding Citigroup, its clients and assets, by driving compliance with applicable laws, rules and regulations, adhering to Policy, applying sound ethical judgment regarding personal behavior, conduct and business practices, and escalating, managing and reporting control issues with transparency, as well as effectively supervise the activity of others and create accountability with those who fail to maintain these standards.


Qualifications:

  • 15+ years experience
  • Accomplished change leader, can execute flawlessly in ambiguous and changing environments and demonstrates both a flexible and resilient approach
  • Must possess vision and passion for the transformation of the consumer banking business, with high energy
  • Managerial experience
  • Significant relevant experience driving strategy and execution of digital products, payments, client segments, channel distribution, and customer experience in the retail banking/financial services space
  • Demonstrated ability to work collaboratively across multiple stakeholders and organizations – pushes self and colleagues to higher levels of performance by actively listening and engaging in constructive dialogue.
  • Treats people with respect and assumes the intentions of others are based on common purpose and shared goals
  • Demonstrated ability to manage and drive large scale, complex business initiatives –taking initiatives from concept to execution.
  • Ability to balance strategic thinking with process-oriented execution, with a high attention to detail and quality on both internal team work and external products delivered to the market
  • Strategic, analytical, and systematic thinker who consistently pushes the status quo and constructively challenges the team to drive change and continuous improvement and innovation


Education:

  • Bachelor’s/University degree, Master’s degree preferred
