As a Senior Business Intelligence Analyst, you will play a key role in building the next evolution of analytics at Caterpillar. You will work with internal customers to understand complex, nuanced problems and design and create data products to answer their questions and provide management insights. This role sits in the Energy & Transportation Commercial Support organization and supports the Sales & Operations Planning strategy. You will work across our industry segments to support decision makers in sales, supply chain planning, marketing, pricing, procurement, and facility operations.

What You Will Do

• Transform business questions into technical requirements that can deliver flexible, sustainable data products to serve the business.
• Investigate and assess gaps in business process and data assets to recommend changes to and creation of new data products and automations.
• Design, create, and enhance engaging, actionable, and visually appealing reports and dashboards in Microsoft Power BI.
• Participate on 3-5 projects concurrently.
• Incorporate statistical methods and/or digital methods to solve business problems.
• Perform other job duties as assigned by Caterpillar management from time to time.

Skills Needed:

• Business Data Analysis:  Knowledge of business data analysis; ability to collect, identify, analyze, and interpret business data using various kinds of techniques to meet business needs and requirements. Evaluates and improves the quality of business data collected and the effectiveness of data analysis methods.
• Requirements Analysis: Knowledge of tools, methods, and techniques of requirement analysis; ability to elicit, analyze and record required business functionality and non-functionality requirements to ensure the success of a system or software development project.
• Accuracy and Attention to Detail: Understanding the necessity and value of accuracy; ability to complete tasks with high levels of precision. Project management skills and process savvy.
• Effective Communications: Excellent oral and written communication skills. Demonstrated ability to effectively communicate and collaborate with business partners and division managers. Excellent human relations skills to develop a collaborative environment with colleagues and key stakeholders.
• Business Assessment: Knowledge of the activities, tasks, practices, and deliverables for assessing and documenting business opportunities; ability to assess the benefits, risks, and success factors of potential applications.

Top Candidates Will Also Have

• 5+ years of experience creating dynamic views and visualizations for large and complex data sets in Microsoft Power BI, with a strong emphasis on DAX for aggregations and calculations.
• Experience with Excel and Snowflake.  Knowledge of Python, R, or SQL.
• Ability to collect required business data through various data sources and apply data analysis techniques to establish, modify, and maintain business data structures.
• Ability to explain work to business partners with limited data knowledge and train colleagues on best data practices.
• Experience with project management concepts including project charters, scheduling and planning projects and successful completion.
• 5+ years of business insights and automation related experience.

Additional Info:

• This position is located in Mossville, IL
• This position is currently a hybrid in-office work model, requiring a minimum 3-day weekly office presence onsite and remote work for the remaining days.  However, work arrangements may be adjusted at any time based on business needs.
• Domestic relocation assistance is available for those who qualify
• Travel up to 5% of time

Summary Pay Range:

$110,520.00 - $165,840.00

Compensation and benefits offered may vary depending on multiple individualized factors, job level, market location, job-related knowledge, skills, individual performance and experience. Please note that salary is only one component of total compensation at Caterpillar.
