What you’ll be doing...

Verizon is seeking a highly organized, technical leader to solve the fragmentation of 911 documentation across our various Lines of Business (LOB). Your mission is to build and maintain a centralized 911 Compliance Northstar ecosystem, ensuring that as our network evolves, our compliance with FCC 911 requirements remains proactive, automated, and foolproof.

As part of this initiative, you will be responsible for designing, modifying, developing, writing, and implementing custom web-based applications using different tools where data is shared between multiple Intranet applications. The applications will be used by network personnel and a high-visibility department's management team within the Verizon network team. You will also be responsible for automation projects, data imports and other server-side scripts, system design (architecture), stakeholder management, researching and providing recommendations, on-call support, and mentoring junior developers.

Key Responsibilities

Centralized Knowledge Governance

  • Establish the "Northstar" Platform: Design, launch, and manage a web-based repository that serves as the "single source of truth" for all 911-related technical documentation, replacing fragmented legacy storage methods.
  • Lifecycle Management: Ensure all Methods of Procedure (MOPs), Workbooks, and Technical Manuals are annually certified by subject matter experts.
  • Vendor & Partner Alignment: Create and maintain RACI matrices that clearly define responsibilities between internal teams and external partners (e.g., HCL, manufacturers).

Process Standardization

  • Universal Process Mapping: Consolidate varying 911 Service Assurance & DBMC procedures across different LOBs and technology stacks into a unified framework.

Technical Solutioning & Automation

Intelligent Navigation: Develop and maintain a "Prompt-to-Solution" interface within the NorthStar site.

  • Provide 911 / NG911 deployment status for all LOBs nationwide, searchable by various parameters (State, PSAP, County, 911 Authority)
  • Direct users to specific M&P sections based on situational queries.
  • Identify the correct Network Management Center (NMC) and Point of Contact for specific segments of the network & callflow
  • Retrieve all High-Level Designs (HLDs), diagrams, and manufacturer documentation for any given product or system.
  • Streamline the identification of IT support teams and automation contacts for new call-flows and product launches.
  • Collaborating with team members to determine best practices and business requirements for code being developed.
  • Analyzing data to ensure data integrity and utilize the data in decision making.
  • Conducting competitive analyses of other websites that operate in the same space.
  • Tracking usability goals and preparing reports for senior management.
  • Developing mockups for our development and design team.
  • Conducting usability tests on an independent type of page on the website and creating a report showcasing your findings.

What we’re looking for...

Communicating with others comes naturally to you. You know that various team members and stakeholders have different needs, and you flex your style and approach to be most effective. People trust you and come to you for advice and counsel. You make connections between data derived from various sources and synthesize it into one complete picture. You thrive in a fast-paced environment with multiple highly visible projects with lots of competing priorities.

You'll need to have:

  • Bachelor’s degree or four or more years of work experience.
  • Technical Literacy: Experience creating web-based resource portals or knowledge management systems (SharePoint, Confluence, or custom internal wikis).
  • Platform Skills: Experience with AI-driven search tools or automated workflows is a significant plus.
  • Analytical Mindset: Ability to take complex interdependency flows and translate them into simple, actionable support paths.

Even better if you have one or more of the following:

  • Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, Industrial Engineering, Computer Science, Supply Chain Management, Statistics, or Economics.
  • Ability to learn, adapt, and convert code to a new language on a timely basis.
  • Ability to thoroughly test the developed applications prior to implementation.
  • Ability to provide support to hundreds of users of the developed applications.
  • Strong troubleshooting skills to analyze complex solutions and problems.
  • Experience with large-scale IT systems.
  • Coding skills, Python.

If Verizon and this role sound like a fit for you, we encourage you to apply even if you don’t meet every “even better” qualification listed above.
