Director of Analytics, Growth & Distribution

 

Leads Vanguard’s Retail Investor Data & Analytics functions focused on driving growth, engagement, and retention. Partners with Heads of Sales & Marketing to develop long-term objectives. Delivers significant impact through data, analytics, and AI/ML, evolving the capability to a distinct advantage for Vanguard.


Core Responsibilities:

 

  • Leadership: Hires, manages and develops a team of 50+ data scientists, analysts, engineers, and product owners. Provides guidance and training as necessary to develop crew. Sets performance standards, reviews performance, and makes informed compensation decisions in accordance with all applicable Human Resources policies and procedures.
  • Consultation: Consults with business stakeholders to expand data literacy among individuals outside of the CDAO as well as prioritize use of data, analytics, and AI/ML resources to maximize impact to the organization while maintaining a focus on improving productivity.
  • Personalization: Responsible for developing, managing, and evolving a suite of AI/ML solutions that enable Vanguard to deliver the right message to the right client at the right time (hyper-personalization / next best action models).
  • Experimentation: Oversee, promote, and advance our experimentation program, increasingly making use of optimization experiments (multi-arm bandits, multi-variate). Leverage inferencing data to develop comprehensive attribution models that drive optimization of $100M+ growth investment.
  • Research & Insights: Deliver high impact insights and reporting that drives business accountability and strategy, giving the teams on the ground a comprehensive understanding of how the business is functioning.
  • Segmentation: Lead Segmentation efforts to develop an unmatched understanding of our clients and prospects, building segmentation and propensity models to enable Sales and Marketing teams to understand our target audience needs and preferences.
  • Technical vision: Keeps abreast of industry, market, and company trends. Serves as a leader of Vanguard's analytics community and contributes expertise. Represents Vanguard in external industry events and proactively forms external relationships to bring in new ideas, technology, and talents.
  • Operations: Manages sales and marketing investment in data, analytics, and AI/ML, including the identification of technology investments and budget allocation to support these tools. Reviews expenses and ensures unit operates within budgetary guidelines.
  • Participates in special projects and performs other duties as assigned.


Qualifications:

 

  • Experience in marketing sciences (attribution, experimentation, personalization).
  • Experience leading teams of technical analytics / engineering individuals.
  • Experience partnering closely with senior stakeholders.
  • Undergraduate Degree in STEM domains or post graduate experience / qualifications in applied math / computer sciences.
  • Graduate degrees in sciences or business (MBA, MSE) preferred.
