The Registered Dietitian in this role will provide individualized medical nutrition therapy, education and counseling to patients. You will offer specialized visits depending on the patient's diagnosis, working in areas such as the Bariatric Metabolic Institute (BMI) and Dr. Chan’s Weight Management Clinic. Your role is essential in optimizing nutrition care for our patients and the patient experience as a whole.
A caregiver in this position works Monday-Friday from 8:00AM – 5:00PM.
A caregiver who excels in this role will:
Provide direct patient care using medical nutrition therapy for an assigned patient population.
Provide counseling and education services to patient with disease processes that require nutritional management.
Implement nutritional care plans, communicate plans, establish a follow-up system and maintain documentation.
Write changes for diet orders, initiate nutrient intake assessments, assess patients for signs and symptoms of nutritional deficiencies, evaluate appropriate fluid and electrolytes, review laboratory and clinical progress notes, inform physicians of patients' nutritional status and need for changes in diet, enteral or parenteral feeding, and develop care plans, documentation and reassessments.
Develop and contribute to Cleveland Clinic sponsored education programs for physicians, nurses, allied health professionals, students, peers and the public.
Create and revise education materials related to disease management through medical nutrition therapy.
Participate in program development designed to market and expand departmental services and revenue generation.
Market services to potential and current referral sources and develop and implement services in response to client's needs and wants.
Support the dietetic internship program as a supervised practice rotation preceptor and class instructor.
Complete reports for ongoing productivity tracking.
Participate in professional growth activities and attend and contribute to conferences and seminars on nutrition and related topics.
Conduct clinical research.
Comply with all regulatory organizations, including CMS, JCAO and ADA, and policies and procedures of the department and Cleveland Clinic.
Minimum qualifications for the ideal future caregiver include:
Bachelor’s Degree in Nutrition, Dietetics or a closely related field
Maintain current licensure to practice Dietetics in the current state (LD)
Active certification as a Registered Dietitian (RD)
One year of experience as a Registered Dietitian in clinical nutrition OR successful completion of a Dietetic Internship Program

Physical Requirements:
Ability to navigate extensively to provide services to a large number of patients throughout the hospital and manual dexterity sufficient to perform computer entry.
Must have physical ability to measure and weigh patients.
