What You’ll DoAs a Staff Data Scientist, you will be a senior individual contributor responsible for designing,building, and delivering high-quality analytical and agentic solutions that directly improvedecision-making, efficiency, and user outcomes across Walmart Business.
You will operate with a high degree of independence, owning outcomes end-to-end whilepartnering closely with Product, Engineering, and Business stakeholders.
Core Responsibilities - Design, develop, and deploy agentic analytics and automation solutions that reduce manual effort and enable scalable, self-service decision-making.
- Apply disciplined analytical methodologies to ensure outputs are accurate, reliable, reproducible, and well-documented, including:
- Data validation and quality checks
- Benchmarking and peer review
- Clear traceability from inputs to outputs
- Build and maintain stable, well-architected analytical systems that balance performance, reliability, and ease of use.
- Improve performance, reliability, and usability of existing Self serve analytics modules and analytics platforms.
- Design and implement UI-based agent capabilities that empower non-technical users toexplore insights, run analyses, and make data-informed decisions independently.
- Translate complex analytical results, model behavior, and agent decisions into clear, actionable insights for both technical and non-technical stakeholders.
- Proactively communicate progress, risks, blockers, and trade-offs, and recommend solutions with a focus on business impact.
- Understand and account for downstream impacts of data and modeling decisions, particularly on agent reliability, performance, and user trust.
- Take ownership of analytical outcomes, not just execution, ensuring delivered solutions to meet both technical and business expectations.
- Push projects forward with minimal oversight, escalating only when necessary and helping unblock dependencies proactively.
What You’ll Bring -
Technical & Analytical Skills

Advanced modeling and statistical skills, including causal modeling, experimental design, and large-scale observational analysis.

Strong experience in data science, applied analytics, or automation-focused roles, with 6+ years of hands-on experience delivering production-grade solutions.

Advanced proficiency in SQL and Python and/or R, with experience working on large- scale, high-volume data systems.

Demonstrated ability to design and validate high-confidence analytical outputs with minimal rework.

Experience implementing data quality frameworks, validation checks, and documentation standards that ensure results are trusted by decision-makers.

Familiarity with agentic systems, analytics automation, or decision-support tooling is a strong plus.

Able to clearly articulate complex analytical outputs, model behavior, and agentic decisions in a way that is understandable and actionable for diverse audiences.

Approaches problem-solving with rigor and discipline, consistently questioning assumptions, data quality, and results.

The annual salary range for this position is $110,000.00 - $220,000.00
Additional compensation includes annual or quarterly performance bonuses.
