The Cyber Controls Chapter Area plays a crucial function within the Group Security division being responsible for designing and deploying effective cyber control capabilities and overseeing continuous improvement of the Group’s cyber risk profile. 

As an organisation with a large IT estate servicing millions of customers every day, we need to ensure effective mitigations are in place to defend our assets against an ever-evolving cyber threat environment. The Network Threat team is tasked to ensure control capabilities are in place and that our defensive posture is continuously improving across the Group in a timely and effective manner. 

We support our people with the flexibility to balance where work is done, with at least half your time each month connecting in the office. Do work that matters.  

Reporting to the Senior Manager - Network Threat Controls, you will be a part of a team that will proactively define and execute the strategies required to ensure that our networks are protected, that our defensive posture is continuously improving, and that we perform good governance across our network security.  

You will:  

• Assist in providing visibility into the relative and absolute cyber security posture of our network threat control.  

• Help define appropriate plans to ensure that IDS/IPS and edge network security technologies continue to evolve in relation to the emerging threat environment and industry best practices.  

• Gather insights from analysis and contribute to the presentation of this data to business stakeholders to enable informed decision making.  

• Play a key role towards metric formulation, measurement, and thoughtful but concise dialogue on continuously evolving our network cyber protection posture to meet the threat landscape.  

• Generate and compile reports associated with Network threat controls for stakeholder consumption and review.  

  

We are interested in hearing from people who: 

• Knowledge of network security technologies like network intrusion detection/protection systems (NIDS/NIPS). DDoS, Web Protection (WAAP) enterprise solutions  

• Experience in SOC or Incident Response highly recommended. 

• Are knowledgeable about cyber threats and network security 

• Strong interpersonal skills as well as well-developed written and oral communication skills  

• A risk-averse mind set with experience working in a large organization and supporting a complex network environment.  

• Passionate interest to advance knowledge within the Network Security domain.  

Technical Skills that will benefit you in the role: 

• Proficiency in network security tools (e.g. Corelight, Palo Alto, Suricata, Akamai, Cloudflare, etc.) 

• Experience with data visualisation tools (e.g. Splunk, Tableau) and proficiency in creating executive-level dashboards and reports. 

• Experience in analysing security logs to detect threats and identify anomalies. 

• Familiarity of Python and scripting is beneficial.
