The Opportunity
Our team currently has an opportunity for a Localization Coordinator II. This role will be on-site at our office either in Plano, TX; St. Paul, MN; or Sylmar, CA. The role will work under general supervision, supports the Localization Manager with the localization and translation of manuals, labels, and software to satisfy regulatory or marketing requirements and support quality speed to market.
Responsibilities
- Develops and monitors schedules for all translation projects and ensures that deadlines are met by contacting/meeting with vendors/division personnel for assigned projects. Obtains answers to questions of timing, meaning, form, format, project schedules, revision tracking, and updates to translations.
- Publishes reports on project status. Presents status reports to department management or to members of other departments, as necessary.
- Coordinates with team members to supply translation vendors with final English copy.
- Ensures that translated material conforms to graphic standards by proof reading final copy and confirming that content is an accurate translation.
- Ensures that translations are done in accordance with company policies and procedures by following applicable SOP and Work Instructions for translated material, guidelines issued by each site’s Document Control Department, and observing Notified Body regulations for translated materials.
- Oversees the preparation of files for translation. This may include, among other things, comparing versions, fixing graphic file problems, ensuring that all project components are available, obtaining part numbers, and ensuring that corrections and updates are included.
- Prepares files for publication. This may include, among other things, page proofing and creating Change Orders (COs).
- Acts as Localization Subject Matter Expert on project core teams, drawing on practical experience and expertise to guide teams through the localization process.
- Provides Localization Coordinator-specific on-the-job training to new employees following completion of official Abbott training assignments. This may include job shadowing, peer reviews of finished work prior to implementation, and knowledge transfer during regularly scheduled meetings.
- Participates in vetting of applicants to Localization Coordinator I and contingent Localization Coordinator roles. May also participate in interview process.
- Remains current on developments in and knowledge of the company's products, markets, policies, and objectives, including regulatory requirements and restrictions.
- Supports all Company initiatives as identified by management and in support of Quality Management Systems (QMS), Environmental Management Systems (EMS), and other regulatory requirements.
- Complies with U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA) regulations, other regulatory requirements, Company policies, operating procedures, processes, and task assignments. Maintains positive and cooperative communications and collaboration with all levels of employees, customers, contractors, and vendors.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s Degree requires with preference in Liberal Arts, Languages, or related field.
- Language translation or translation project management experience.
- Requires demonstrated written and verbal communication (i.e., English grammar and style), interpersonal, facilitation, presentation, quantitative, analytical, organizational, and follow-up skills, the ability to meet deadlines as well as the ability to converse effectively with all levels of employees.
- Must possess project management skills and the ability to prioritize and handle a large volume of projects simultaneously and meet deadlines.
- Must be highly organized and attentive to detail.
- Experience working in a broader enterprise/cross-division business unit model preferred.
- Ability to work within a team and as an individual contributor in a fast-paced, changing environment.
- Ability to leverage and/or engage others to accomplish projects.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills with the ability to effectively communicate at multiple levels in the organization.
- Ability to travel approximately 5%, including internationally.
