Brazer

Brazer is a job that involves joining two pieces of metal together with a brazing process.

It requires a skilled worker to heat the metal to the proper temperature and use a special alloy to bond the two pieces together.

The brazer must also be able to inspect and clean the pieces to ensure a secure connection. 

 

Role Purpose 

  • The purpose of a Brazer job role is to join or assemble metal components by heating and melting metal parts together with a torch.
  • Brazers must be precise and have a strong knowledge of metalworking to ensure that the parts are joined securely and properly.
  • They must also be safe when working with heat and wear all necessary safety equipment. 

 

Summary 

  • A Brazer is responsible for joining metal components together through a process of heating and melting.
  • They use hand-held tools such as torches and electric furnaces and must be knowledgeable in a variety of brazing techniques and metals.
  • They must also be able to read and interpret blueprints and diagrams and have a good eye for detail.
  • Brazers must have good manual dexterity and an understanding of physics, chemistry, and mathematics.
  • They must also be able to work safely and follow all safety procedures. 

 

Duties 

  • Prepare brazing material and equipment 
  • Assemble components and brazing parts 
  • Ensure quality of brazed components 
  • Maintain and repair brazing equipment 
  • Inspect and test brazed parts 

 

Preferred Skills 

  • Ability to read and interpret blueprints 
  • Ability to use appropriate brazing and soldering equipment 
  • Knowledge of metallurgy and heat-treating 
  • Excellent hand-eye coordination 
  • High level of attention to detail 

 

Minimum Requirements 

  • High School diploma or equivalent 
  • 1 Year of soldering and/or brazing techniques 
  • Ability to interpret drawings and diagrams 
  • Ability to read, write and speak the English language
