POSITION SUMMARY
The UI/UX Designer is responsible for creating user-friendly interfaces and enhancing user experiences across all digital platforms.
POSITION RESPONSIBILITIES
This job description describes the general nature and level of work performed by the employee assigned to this position. It should not be construed as an exhaustive list of all required duties, responsibilities and skills.
User Research and Analysis: Conduct in-depth studies to understand user needs, preferences, behaviors to inform design decisions, and create user personas and journey maps.
Design and Layout: Create digital platform layouts, wireframes, mockups, and prototypes that align with organization specifications and branding goals.
User Experience (UX) and Usability: Ensure digital platforms are intuitive, accessible, and optimized for user engagement via desktop and mobile.
Collaboration: Work closely with senior leadership product managers, developers, and other stakeholders to align design with overall project objectives.
Maintenance and Updates: Conduct digital platform testing, troubleshooting issues, update content, and enhance features to improve navigation and performance.
Trend Awareness: Stay current with digital industry trends, technologies, and best practices to maintain modern and effective digital platforms.
Visual Design: Create graphic user interface elements, such as menus, tabs, and widgets, ensuring they are visually appealing and intuitive to use.
Maintain Design Standards: Ensure adherence to style guides and design systems, including typography, color schemes, and accessibility standards.
This position may be expected to cross-train in other sections of their division and perform the job duties in each section, based on the needs of the agency.
EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE
Minimum Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree in Graphic Design, Human-Computer Interaction, Computer Science, User Experience Design or a related field.
Proficiency in Design Tools: Experience with design software such as Figma and Miro and Adobe Experience Manager (AEM) components.
User-Centered Design Knowledge: Strong grasp of usability principles, responsive design, and user-centered design methodologies.
Portfolio: A portfolio showcasing previous UI/UX design projects, demonstrating design thinking and problem-solving skills.
Soft Skills: Excellent communication, collaboration, critical thinking, adaptability, and problem-solving abilities, with a keen eye for detail.
Preferred Qualifications
Experience with Adobe Experience Manager (AEM) components.
SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS
The schedule for this position may vary and require flexibility, including some early or late shifts, weekends, and occasional overtime, based on the needs of the agency.
This position may require occasional travel. The employee must be willing and able to perform all job-related travel. State vehicles may be available, but reliable transportation may be required for local travel.
This position works in a comfortable office setting with a computer for a large percentage of the workday.
