As a Project Manager - Industry 4.0 Smart Factory, you will play a pivotal role in driving Hitachi Energy's Industry 4.0 transformation by steering the comprehensive planning, execution, and evaluation of complex automation projects across the manufacturing landscape. You will spearhead the implementation of cutting-edge smart factory technologies, ensuring their seamless integration with existing systems and processes to optimize operational efficiency and data-driven decision-making.

Together with our engineers you will build cross-functional teams enabling the implementation of our Industry 4.0 vision and contribute to our overall production performance.

Responsibilities:

  • Champion Industry 4.0 initiatives by spearheading the planning, execution, and evaluation of strategic automation projects that align with Hitachi Energy's Industry 4.0 roadmap and strategic objectives.
  • Proactively define project specifications, aligning them with the overarching strategic targets and our growing product portfolio, considering smart factory principles and advanced automation technologies.
  • Collaborate with machine suppliers, internal teams, and external partners at a conceptual level, ensuring project concepts align with Industry 4.0 principles, automation best practices, Hitachi Energy's overall manufacturing strategy, and the seamless integration of smart factory solutions with existing systems, including MES and ECS solutions.
  • Take ownership of project finances, managing budgets, cost estimates, and ensuring compliance with financial regulations and internal controls, considering the economic impact of projects and their alignment with Hitachi Energy's financial goals.
  • Proactively monitoring the progress against the targets, identifying, and mitigating potential roadblocks, and ensuring project completion within specified deadlines, considering the complexity of smart factory projects and their integration within a running production.
  • Lead project implementation, coordinating with internal teams, suppliers, and external partners, while fostering a collaborative and results-oriented team environment.
  • Proactively identify and resolve technical issues that arise during project implementation, utilizing expertise in automation technologies, industry best practices, and innovative problem-solving techniques, with a focus on the challenges of semiconductor manufacturing.
  • Oversee the creation of detailed project documentation and Hitachi Energy's internal documentation protocols, with attention to ease of use.
  • Manufacturing execution system (MES) and Enterprise connectivity solution (ECS) Integration Expertise: Collaborate with MES and ECS teams to integrate automation solutions with our overall manufacturing operations, ensuring seamless data exchange, operational efficiency, and the realization of Industry 4.0 benefits.
  • Deep understanding of advanced manufacturing technologies and their impact on operational efficiency, data-driven decision-making, and Industry 4.0 transformation.

Qualifications and Experience:

  • An advanced degree in engineering, preferably in industrial automation, system engineering, or a related discipline, with a strong focus on advanced automation technologies and Industry 4.0 concepts.
  • Demonstrated experience in leading and managing complex automation projects from concept to implementation, with a proven track record of success in manufacturing environments, including experience with smart factory technologies. Experience in Semiconductor Assembly or Testing desirable.
  • Proven experience motivating cross-functional teams, fostering collaboration, and achieving project goals within specified timelines and budgets.
  • Strong problem-solving and analytical skills, with the ability to identify, analyze, and resolve complex technical issues that arise during project implementation.
  • Ability to adapt to rapidly evolving technologies, learn new concepts quickly, and integrate them effectively into automation projects.
  • Experience with agile project management methodologies is a plus.
  • Fluency in English is required; German A2 level is a plus.
  • Ability to travel domestically and internationally as needed.
