As a Lead Director – Actuarial Risk Products and Assumptions, you would lead a team supporting key elements of the risk we take in our PBM underwriting process, including model assumptions, unique client guarantees and new product initiatives. In this role, you will be frequently engaging with various stakeholders and frequently working under tight deadlines. Some of your key responsibilities will include:

  • Partner with Strategy team and Underwriting leadership to provide risk assessment and support for new client risk guarantees and products being considered
  • Provide support for broader actuarial priorities, such as benchmarking or ad-hoc financial analyses, and commercial client consulting.
  • Develop and maintain enterprise pharmaceutical trends.
  • Partner with data analytics teams to identify opportunities of leveraging new data capabilities to assess risk in innovative ways.
  • Engagement with cross-functional internal stakeholders such as Finance, Clinical, Trade and Network teams in setting assumptions. 

To be successful, you will need to develop a solid understanding of the PBM underwriting models, a customer-centric mindset, an ability to risk-assess complex problems and recommend solutions and communicate effectively with leadership teams to bring accountability and awareness to key assumptions. Being a strong people leader and collaborating effectively with stakeholders across the ecosystem will also be essential to success.

Required Qualifications

  • 10+ years of actuarial or relatable experience
  • Attainment of ASA or FSA designation
  • 1+ years experience as a people leader


Preferred Qualifications

  • PBM or healthcare industry experience
  • Exceptional self-directed ability to problem solve new situations, both as an individual contributor and as a people leader.
  • Diverse experiences that demonstrate an ability to learn quickly
  • Able to synthesize complex information in complex tools to drive solutions
  • Exceptional communication skills, including bringing clarity to complex situations to both technical and non-technical audiences, engaging with senior leadership and effectively managing tight deliverable timelines.
  • Adaptability and ability to prioritize effectively


Education

  • Bachelor's Degree is required
  • Equivalent Combination of education and experience may be considered.

Pay Range

The typical pay range for this role is:

$100,000.00 - $231,540.00


This pay range represents the base hourly rate or base annual full-time salary for all positions in the job grade within which this position falls.  The actual base salary offer will depend on a variety of factors including experience, education, geography and other relevant factors.  This position is eligible for a CVS Health bonus, commission or short-term incentive program in addition to the base pay range listed above.  This position also includes an award target in the company’s equity award program.
