Occupational Therapists provide many wide-ranging services to help patients improve their ability to perform normal activities of daily living. Whether from a physical injury, stroke, cognitive differences, surgery or general aging, your work as an OT helps maximize their confidence in performing self-care, working and managing life responsibilities.
A caregiver in this position works days| 7:30am—4:00pm or 8:00am—4:30pm. Weekend/holiday requirements.
A caregiver who excels in this role will:
Evaluate and treat patients with physical, emotional, cognitive and/or psychosocial deficits which impact their abilities to successfully perform independent living skills.
Assess patient ability to safely and effectively perform independent living skills and design the appropriate plan of care, including type and frequency of treatment.
Implement the treatment plan using appropriate modalities and document subjective and objective findings of patient progress.
Educate the patient and family/caregiver about patient deficits.
Direct and supervise the activities of support personnel.
Act a clinical instructor or participate in the education and evaluation of students.
Minimum qualifications for the ideal future caregiver include:
Bachelor’s Degree
Graduate of an Occupational Therapy Program accredited by the American Occupational Therapy Association
Current Ohio licensure as an Occupational Therapist (OT)
Basic Life Support (BLS), Healthcare Provider Certification through the American Heart Association (AHA) or American Red Cross
Preferred qualifications for the ideal future caregiver include:
Experience in clinical area
Acute care experience
Inpatient care experience
ICU experience
