As a Data Quality Advisor reporting to the Manager of Data Quality & Metadata Management, you will play a crucial role in designing, developing, and deploying data quality products and dashboards across the organization. You will collaborate closely with business data stewards and owners to address data quality challenges, ensuring solutions meet business needs.

Your responsibilities include identifying and analyzing data quality issues, developing business rules using SQL to test data quality, and executing against detailed roll-out plans for enterprise-wide implementation. Strong communication and data analysis skills are essential as you work to improve data integrity and align solutions with organizational objectives.

Minimum Requirements:

  • 5 years in related field in data quality management

  • Post-secondary education (Computer Science or Information Management Systems is preferred)

  • Ability to educate and coach a broad and diverse audience on data analysis topics and new ways of working

  • Strong skills in SQL with a basic understanding of data modelling and data engineering

Responsibilities:

  • Analyze data and information requirements

  • Develop data quality requirements supporting digital initiatives working with business analysts and solution architects.

  • Identify the architecture, infrastructure, and interfaces to data sources, tools supporting automated data loads, security concerns, analytic models, and data visualization.

  • Work proactively and independently to address project requirements and articulate issues/challenges to reduce project delivery risks.

  • Develop and implement data quality rules using Spark SQL on the Databricks platform, leveraging data analysis skills to ensure results align with existing data quality solutions.

  • Conduct quality assurance on new data quality dashboards to verify adherence to standards and accuracy of results.

  • Prepare and deliver presentations to demonstrate the value and impact of data quality solutions.

  • Ensures quality control of data ingestion into the data warehouse/data lake. Quality control that ensures we do not create data swamps by ensuring management of warehouse content. Ensure quality of Suncor data, conduct data profiling, data discovery, Information chain analysis and management, and root cause analysis.

Location and other Key Details:

  • This is an office-based role. You will work out of our Calgary head office, located in the Suncor Energy Centre at 150 – 6th Ave S.W.

  • Hours of work are a regular 40-hour work week, Monday to Friday, with the potential for extended work hours based on business needs.

  • Our business professional roles follow internal compensation guidelines and the pay band will generally be based years of experience and scope of work.
