Qualifications and skills

  • Registered Nurse with a renal certificate (preferred) and minimum of 5 years’ experience in Renal nursing care
  • Knowledge of National Safety and Quality Health Service Standards
  • Experience of working with and understanding of Safety and Quality systems
  • Hand Hygiene Auditor with status current with NHHI
  • Hand Hygiene Educator or working towards and maintained current status with NHHI
  • Experience in infection prevention and control management
  • Experience in data evaluation and identifying areas for improvement
  • Proficient in Word, Excel and Powerpoint
  • Effective communicator, articulate and confident
  • Highly motivated, outcome driven and collaborative in approach
  • Ability to work independently with minimal guidance
  • Ability to travel within Australia, if required

Support and Collaborate with the Clinical Governance Team

Co-Ordination of Clinical, Safety and Quality Systems

  • Support FKC DCM’s and clinic staff to understand and perform their roles and responsibilities in safety and quality
  • Provide advice and support to FKC Clinics regarding clinical practices
  • Support accreditation processes
  • Support FKC Clinics with licensing and reporting requirements
  • Co-Ordinate Clinical, Safety and Quality Systems as required including creating and reviewing policies and protocols, incidents, audits and document control
  • Quality check of incidents reported on electronic incident management system.
  • Collation of ISR1 and ISR2 incident data as they are reported into the Electronic Incident management system
  • Supporting DCMs in Clinical Investigations and RCAs

Co-Ordination  of Infection Prevention and Control Program

  • Support the FKC Clinics to ensure they are complying with the requirements of IPC to meet the National Standards including IPC Champions program
  • Co-Ordinate the hand hygiene auditing program and education of auditors to ensure all clinics meet the reporting requirement for hand hygiene.
  • Conduct Hand Hygiene or other IPC Audits in Clinics or remotely as required
  • Assist in supporting the FKC Clinics during pandemics and outbreaks
  • Involvement in renovations and new builds as required to help ensure IPC requirements are observed and implemented

Dialysis Clinic Manager (DCM) Support

  • Work with and support all clinic managers to ensure a high standard of clinical care in all clinics.
  • Support new managers into their roles.

Relationships and Communications

  • Work closely and liaise with the FKC clinical governance team
  • Work closely and liaise with FKC Leadership team
  • Work closely and liaise with Dialysis Clinic Managers and clinic staff
  • Displays courtesy, tact and patience during interactions with all members of the facility staff and extended community

Professional development

  • Updates own knowledge through educational and professional opportunities, reading and networks
  • Maintains Nursing Registration
  • Maintains annual mandatory competencies
  • Maintains hand hygiene auditor status.
  • Is a hand hygiene educator and maintains status.
  • Member of the Renal Society of Australasia (RSA) (desirable)
  • Member of Australasian College of Infection Prevention and Control (desirable)
