The Paid Media Strategist will play a key role in optimizing marketing investment, implementing best practices, and integrating with marketing technology across Vanguard’s Personal Investor line of business. Reporting to the Head of Paid Media Strategy, Personal Investor this role will execute marketing strategy across Paid Media channels in order to drive growth of Vanguard’s Personal Investor products and offers. The Paid Media Strategist helps deliver and implement media strategy, budgeting, executing, reporting, and ongoing campaign optimization. 

This role:

  • Creates channel marketing plans by translating business objectives into defined channel marketing goals, strategies, and tactics.

  • Manages the agency partners to ensure excellent media management, quality assurance, campaign analysis, and performance

  • Transforms campaign metrics into actionable observations and recommendations

  • Leads the development and implementation of campaign measurement plans to track, report on, and optimize results

  • Accountable for on-time, on-budget campaigns, and quality assurance of ad placements

  • Develops positive working relationships within the department, across the company, and with our agency partners and media vendors

  • Helps lead internal meetings with media team to communicate and manage priorities

  • Creates and maintain media documents: flowcharts, timelines, RFPs, POVs, plan agreements/contracts, and correspondence from within and outside the agency

  • Provides timely feedback and performance reporting to internal stakeholders

  • Stay apprised of industry standards, new media programs/trends, and competitive landscape

  • Ensure Paid Media campaigns adhere to compliance and legal standards working closely with these key business functions to monitor and approve all communications

Qualifications:

  • Five years of media planning experience with supervisory/agency management experience a plus.

  • Undergraduate degree in Marketing or equivalent experience.

  • Direct experience managing paid media budgets and channels required.

  • Strong written, and verbal communication skills.

  • Effective communicator, confident in ability to act as a spokesperson for Paid Media results and performance.

  • Strong analytical skills including media performance evaluation and insight development.

  • In depth understanding of media buying tools and common digital platforms (Google, Adobe, Meta, DSPs, Doubleclick).

  • Experience with Microsoft PowerPoint; Excel and Word.

  • Self-motivated; excellent interpersonal, oral, and written communication; problem solving, and decision-making skills.

  • Excellent organizational, time management, and multitasking capabilities a must.

  • Strict attention to detail, work quality, and deadlines.

  • Experience in financial services vertical, or regulated industries, a plus.
