About the Role

We are seeking a talented and results-driven Latin South Marketing Manager to join our team. The Marketing Manager will drive the marketing efforts across key Latin American markets, including Brazil, Peru, Argentina, Uruguay, Bolivia, and Paraguay. As a regional marketing manager, you will translate the short- and long-term business goals into local marketing plans and programs. The role includes execution of impactful regional marketing initiatives that drive growth. You will collaborate across cross-functional departments to deliver on the planning and implementation of diverse field marketing programs throughout your territories. These programs, aligned with regional and segment-specific sales priorities and revenue targets, encompass digital campaigns, account-based strategy, webinars, thought leadership, and Elsevier and industry events. Your responsibilities extend to partnering with the local sales team to identify target markets, run impactful marketing campaigns, and assess campaign effectiveness, ultimately generating leads and marketing sourced wins.

You will deliver regional market insights into your programs, which will include an in-depth understanding of customer behaviours in the Academic & Government research segment, and you will maintain strong alignment with local Elsevier stakeholders especially in Sales.

This role will involve a combination of strong communication capabilities (verbal and writing) while being the key person in delivering your respective regional programs and campaigns. Responsibilities include the development and execution of marketing strategies that drive revenue growth. 

In this role, you will be reporting to the Americas Director of Regional Marketing while collaborating with other go-to-market teams. Your success will be measured by the ability to build a solid pipeline while increasing regional opportunities in Southern Latin American markets to drive sales velocity and achieve marketing sourced wins.

Responsibilities

  • Develop a region-specific marketing plan which blends overall go-to-market (GTM) plans with regional marketing strategies, tailored to each country’s unique market needs that align with priorities of the local markets. 
  • Contribute to GTM plans and collaborate with global marketing functions such as marketing operations, digital marketing teams, and segment marketing to drive revenue growth. Execute on the marketing plan for the assigned region with clear objectives aligned to commercial goals.
  • Oversee lead generation activities, coordinating closely with the sales team to ensure effective conversion from lead to customer.
  • Plan and manage digital marketing campaigns, including email marketing, social media, and content marketing, to drive brand awareness and lead generation.
  • Strengthen Elsevier’s brand presence through integrated marketing campaigns, leveraging digital, social media, print, and event marketing.
  • Track and measure the effectiveness of digital marketing campaigns, making data-driven decisions to optimize performance. Ensure all marketing campaigns are delivered on time and within budget, measure and report on their effectiveness.
  • Capture, measure, and report metrics related to marketing impact (MQLs, sourced, and influenced bookings), using key performance indicators (KPIs) to make data-driven decisions to enhance effectiveness of marketing campaign performance. Ensure all regional marketing activities and results are effectively maintained, tracked, and communicated to marketing leadership, sales, and other stakeholders.  
  • Create cohesive regional messaging framework, aligning global message with regional context after thorough needs analysis of the regional customer
  • Develop localized collateral, digital assets, email copy, case studies, or infographics that are effective and appropriate for the intended audience and ensure cohesive brand messaging and strategy execution.
  • Develop a good understanding of customer value perception of Elsevier in the region, nurturing relationships with key media outlets, influencers, and industry partners across the region.
  • Conduct in-depth market research and competitor analysis to identify opportunities and formulate strategic plans.
  • Create, expand, and accelerate sales opportunities through regional and account-focused marketing execution and managing marketing campaigns that promote our products and/or services, within marketing defined strategy.
  • Responsible for optimal allocation of assigned regional marketing budget and effective spend of resources and budget against targets for the region.
  • Maintain high standards of marketing planning, execution, and measurement, including delivery of a coordinated (calendar) overview of all regional marketing activities periodically. 
  • Provide leadership and mentorship to peers on the regional marketing team, fostering a high-performance culture.

Requirements

  • Demonstrated ability in demand generation which includes digital marketing for lead generation and influenced opportunities, driving pipeline velocity, support sales enablement, event management, tracking, and reporting on marketing effectiveness and results.
  • Experience in using content marketing to deliver a cohesive story and value proposition across a buyer’s journey.
  • Experience in digital field marketing and high comfort level with understanding and use of digital and social channels, incorporating regional market dynamics in Latin America
  • Analyze and report on the performance of campaigns, providing insights and recommendations for improvement.
  • Experience in account-based marketing programs. 
  • Outstanding communication and interpersonal skills, and collaborative abilities to plan and execute in a global matrixed organization.
  • Skilled project manager, organized, and high attention to detail.
  • Experience in driving projects and collaborating on cross-functional teams involving Sales, Global Marketing teams, and other stakeholders. 
  • Strong problem-solving and critical thinking skills, with the ability to interpret market data and make informed decisions.
  • Proficiency with CRM systems such as Salesforce and digital marketing tools and platforms, including Google Analytics, Google Ads, LinkedIn, and email marketing software
  • Experience developing and managing multiple marketing programs simultaneously, customer segmentation, and targeting.
  • Willingness to travel within the region as needed.
  • Thrives in a fast-paced environment with changing priorities.
  • Fluency in Portuguese and English; proficiency in Spanish is highly desirable.
  • Knowledge of scientific research, trends in research, and higher education is highly desirable.
