Job Description:

Centralized Scheduling Specialist

The Centralized Scheduling Specialist is responsible for providing timely and patient-friendly appointment scheduling via telephone, electronically, or in-person. Responsible for scheduling, confirming and re-scheduling appointments to maximize patient flow while maintaining standards across multiple hospital departments.

SKILLS AND ABILITIES

  • Ability to read, write legibly, and converse effectively in the English language
  • Demonstrates the ability to use a personal computer and various software programs applicable to the position
  • Demonstrates the ability to operate applicable office equipment
  • Demonstrates the ability to conduct insurance verification process
  • Exhibits the ability to deal professionally with internal and external stakeholders
  • Exhibits the ability to maintain confidentiality, think and act independently with minimal supervision
  • Ability to navigate and utilize web browsers, Microsoft Outlook, Word, Excel, and other software applicable to position
  • Maintains regular, consistent and punctual attendance at the assigned job location
  • Excellent telephone etiquette and customer service skills
  • Demonstrates strong priority-setting and organizational skills
  • Working knowledge of medical terminology, CPT, ICD10, and HCPCS coding
  • Working knowledge of health insurance types, eligibility, and benefits
  • Types over 25 words per minute

EDUCATION/CERTIFICATIONS/LICENSES/DEGREES

  • High School Diploma or equivalent preferred

EXPERIENCE

  • One (1) year previous patient scheduling and/or call center experience preferred
  • One (1) year experience in healthcare patient financial services, patient access, customer service or related area (registration, finance, collections, customer service, medical office, or contract management) preferred
