The Hartford is seeking a  Director of Performance Analytics (the Director) who will own procurement spend and vendor performance data, collaborate across the organization to derive actionable insights, identify trends, and recommend process improvements. Additionally, the Director will work with the SSRE leadership team to establish operational metrics for measuring business performance. The Director will also convey business concepts and analysis through strong visualizations and storytelling and will develop complex financial and statistical models to support category-specific strategic planning and enable effective business decisions.

This role will have a Hybrid work arrangement, with the expectation of working in the Hartford, CT or Morristown, NJ office 3 days a week (Tuesday through Thursday).

Responsibilities:

  • Develop extensive business knowledge with a comprehensive understanding of the SSRE organization to form a strong partnership across the department.

  • Own vendor spend data across all categories and serve as the single point of contact for spend reporting, whether in Coupa or other systems.

  • Prepare all data-related information relating to quarterly business reviews for the department.

  • Support critical categories of spend by providing analytics, reporting and insights, including:

  • Support annual category planning process.

  • Lead pricing modeling for complex sourcing events and negotiations.

  • Analyze spend and vendor information to provide insights and make recommendations to the category teams.

  • Own the SSRE metrics program in partnership with the SSRE Senior Leadership Team. Develop and maintain operational metrics with the business to highlight organizational health and deliver actionable insights to further business strategies.

  • Provide support to the Supplier Relationship Management team, which includes ensuring accuracy and completeness of supplier-related information maintained in Coupa, PeopleSoft, and Archer to facilitate improved reporting.

  • Perform financial and operational modeling (e.g., clean sheeting, cost benefit models, and contract/organizational benchmarking).

  • Own and drive sourcing engagement reporting and analysis and articulating results for senior leadership.

  • Assist senior management in developing organizational goals and strategic plans on an annual basis.

  • Lead the end-to-end development of best-in-class reporting and analytical capabilities (Tableau, Coupa, Excel); ensure that all dashboards and reports developed align to internal design framework and quality standards.

  • Identify and define both process and data improvements, including integrating other data sources with procurement data.
     

Qualifications:

  • 7+ years of experience with Data Analytics and/or Financial Analysis in a large corporate setting

  • Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Accounting, or Data Analytics required. Advanced degree a plus

  • Highly proficient with spreadsheet modeling (Microsoft Excel)

  • Experience with complex models and analysis (financial/operational)

  • Experience with data visualization tools (Tableau preferred)

  • Working knowledge of SQL and Oracle databases

  • Experience analyzing and interpreting data for developing meaningful insights.

  • Experience with source-to-pay systems (Coupa) is a plus.

  • Problem-Solving: Able to approach complex problems methodically and find effective solutions.

Compensation

The listed annualized base pay range is primarily based on analysis of similar positions in the external market. Actual base pay could vary and may be above or below the listed range based on factors including but not limited to performance, proficiency and demonstration of competencies required for the role. The base pay is just one component of The Hartford’s total compensation package for employees. Other rewards may include short-term or annual bonuses, long-term incentives, and on-the-spot recognition. The annualized base pay range for this role is:

$132,020 - $198,030
