Northrop Grumman Aeronautics Systems has an opening for Principal Mechanical Design Engineer / Senior Principal Mechanical Design Engineer to join the team of qualified individuals on our Test and Evaluation organization. This role is located onsite in Melbourne, FL.
**This role may be filled at the Principal OR Senior Principal level based on the qualifications listed, below**
In this role, the successful candidate will work on the Lab Test team and be responsible for mechanical designs associated with test lab mechanical equipment, and hardware in the loop test benches. These design activities will be associated with any of the following – cable interface assemblies, equipment racks, WRA hardware, and all associated supporting installations. The designer will help develop new weapons systems demonstration systems for future business. This role will be a dual lab design and lab operations role. Candidate will be responsible for design, oversight of build and then operations and demonstration of the asset.

Basic Qualifications (Principal):
Must have a Bachelor of Science degree in a STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering, or Math) discipline AND 5 years of related professional/military experience, OR a Master of Science degree in a STEM discipline AND 3 years of related professional/military experience, OR a STEM Ph.D. AND 1 year of related professional/military experience.
Your ability to transfer and maintain the final adjudicated U.S. government Secret clearance (must be in-scope or enrolled in Continuous Evaluation) and any program access(es) required for the position within a reasonable period of time, as determined by the Company.
Your ability to obtain and/or transfer and maintain the final U.S. adjudicated government Top Secret clearance
Must have experience with mechanical systems design and/or integration in a laboratory or test environment.

Must have a Bachelor of Science degree in a STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering, or Math) discipline AND 8 years of related professional/military experience, OR a Master of Science degree in a STEM discipline AND 6 years of related professional/military experience, OR a STEM Ph.D. AND 4 year of related professional/military experience.
