Ce cours traite de la location tant commerciale que résidentielle, et cherche à établir l’état du droit en common law ainsi que les modifications apportées à la common law par le législateur. Dans une terminologie française propre au domaine, ce cours examine en détail, entre autres, la nature du bail, les catégories de baux, la convention de location, la cession, la sous-location, les obligations locatives, les recours et l’extinction du bail. Ce cours permet aussi aux civilistes de dégager les nuances dans le domaine entre les deux systèmes de droit canadien.

La Section de common law veut recruter des professeurs à temps partiel qui sont des leaders dans la profession juridique. Pour ce cours, un LL.B. ou un J.D.  (ou son équivalent) est nécessaire. Le candidat ou candidate doit aussi être membre en bonne et due forme du Barreau de l’Ontario (ou son équivalent). Il ou elle doit aussi avoir une expérience significative dans ce domaine. Le fait d’avoir enseigné ce cours auparavant est un atout.
