Reporting to the Supply Chain Manager, the Purchaser is pivotal in ensuring the efficient and cost-effective procurement of materials and services for our construction projects. The ideal candidate will have extensive experience in supply chain management, strong proficiency in Viewpoint and Coupa, and a solid background in the construction industry.Procurement Management
Source, negotiate, and purchase materials, equipment, and services required for projects.
Develop and maintain relationships with suppliers and vendors to ensure timely delivery and favorable terms.
Evaluate and monitor contract performance to ensure compliance with contractual obligations and determine the need for changes.
ERP / Procurement Platform Proficiency
Utilize Viewpoint and Coupa to manage purchase orders, requisitions, and procurement workflows.
Ensure all purchasing activities are accurately recorded in Viewpoint/Coupa and aligned with company policies and procedures.
Supplier Relationship Management
Establish and maintain strong working relationships with suppliers to facilitate effective communication and issue resolution.
Conduct supplier evaluations and performance reviews to ensure high standards are met.
Cost Control
Analyze market trends to identify potential cost savings and improvements in procurement processes.
Monitor and control procurement budgets to ensure alignment with project financial goals.
Quality Assurance
Ensure all purchased materials and services meet required quality standards and specifications.
Coordinate with project managers, construction managers, and QA teams to address any quality issues promptly.
Documentation & Reporting
Maintain accurate and up-to-date procurement records, including purchase orders, contracts, and supplier agreements.
Prepare and present regular reports on procurement activities, cost savings, and supplier performance.
Education
Bachelor’s degree in Supply Chain Management, Business Administration, or a related field.
Working towards or completion of SMT or SCMP designation is highly desirable.
Experience
3–5 years of experience in procurement or supply chain management, preferably within construction. Equivalent experience within the mechanical and/or electrical trades is also considered an asset.
Skills
Strong negotiation and communication skills.
Excellent organizational and time-management abilities.
Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint).
Ability to work independently and as part of a team in a fast-paced environment.
Strong analytical skills and attention to detail.
Ability to maintain high standards of accuracy and quality in a dynamic, fast-paced environment.
Additional Requirements
In-depth knowledge of procurement processes and best practices.
Familiarity with electrical construction materials, equipment, and industry standards.
Experience purchasing mechanical equipment and materials is a strong asset, as the role supports both mechanical and electrical scopes.
