Reporting to the Supply Chain Manager, the Purchaser is pivotal in ensuring the efficient and cost-effective procurement of materials and services for our construction projects. The ideal candidate will have extensive experience in supply chain management, strong proficiency in Viewpoint and Coupa, and a solid background in the construction industry.

This position is based in Calgary, AB.

What You Will Be Working On

Procurement Management

  • Source, negotiate, and purchase materials, equipment, and services required for projects.

  • Develop and maintain relationships with suppliers and vendors to ensure timely delivery and favorable terms.

  • Evaluate and monitor contract performance to ensure compliance with contractual obligations and determine the need for changes.

ERP / Procurement Platform Proficiency

  • Utilize Viewpoint and Coupa to manage purchase orders, requisitions, and procurement workflows.

  • Ensure all purchasing activities are accurately recorded in Viewpoint/Coupa and aligned with company policies and procedures.

Supplier Relationship Management

  • Establish and maintain strong working relationships with suppliers to facilitate effective communication and issue resolution.

  • Conduct supplier evaluations and performance reviews to ensure high standards are met.

Cost Control

  • Analyze market trends to identify potential cost savings and improvements in procurement processes.

  • Monitor and control procurement budgets to ensure alignment with project financial goals.

Quality Assurance

  • Ensure all purchased materials and services meet required quality standards and specifications.

  • Coordinate with project managers, construction managers, and QA teams to address any quality issues promptly.

Documentation & Reporting

  • Maintain accurate and up-to-date procurement records, including purchase orders, contracts, and supplier agreements.

  • Prepare and present regular reports on procurement activities, cost savings, and supplier performance.

What We Are Looking For

Education

  • Bachelor’s degree in Supply Chain Management, Business Administration, or a related field.

  • Working towards or completion of SMT or SCMP designation is highly desirable.

Experience

  • 3–5 years of experience in procurement or supply chain management, preferably within construction. Equivalent experience within the mechanical and/or electrical trades is also considered an asset.

Skills

  • Strong negotiation and communication skills.

  • Excellent organizational and time-management abilities.

  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint).

  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team in a fast-paced environment.

  • Strong analytical skills and attention to detail.

  • Ability to maintain high standards of accuracy and quality in a dynamic, fast-paced environment.

Additional Requirements

  • In-depth knowledge of procurement processes and best practices.

  • Familiarity with electrical construction materials, equipment, and industry standards.

  • Experience purchasing mechanical equipment and materials is a strong asset, as the role supports both mechanical and electrical scopes.
