Software Engineer Intern - Undergraduate

About the Team: The Train Jumpers team is responsible for building and maintaining the tooling that configures PlayStation Plus and partner subscriptions, such as EA Play, Ubisoft+, and GTA+. We work closely with Sony's Content Pipeline to merchandise these products and ensure seamless data flow through Subscription Services and Catalogs to our stores and clients, allowing players to purchase and utilize subscriptions with ease.

What You’ll Be Doing:

As a Software Engineer Intern (Tooling and Services), you will have the unique opportunity to contribute to the commerce experience on the PlayStation®5, a platform used by millions of players daily. You’ll work on applying innovative web technologies to help build and enhance digital commerce solutions for PlayStation games, media content, and subscription services. Working within an Agile environment, you’ll collaborate with PlayStation engineering teams across the USA, Canada, Japan, and Europe, gaining valuable experience in a fast-paced, global setting.

Your responsibilities will include:

  • Assisting in the development of TypeScript-based applications for PlayStation consoles
  • Supporting the creation and optimization of digital commerce solutions for games and subscription services
  • Writing reusable, high-quality code in TypeScript or JavaScript according to standard best practices
  • Participating in code reviews and learning from team feedback
  • Assisting in debugging and resolving software issues
  • Staying up-to-date with new technologies and contributing ideas to improve our software solutions

What We’re Looking For:

  • Currently pursuing a Bachelor’s in Computer Science or a related field
  • Projected to graduate by Spring 2026
  • Strong understanding of Object-Oriented Programming and TypeScript or JavaScript
  • Familiarity with developing high-performance user interfaces
  • Passion for building excellent software and learning new technologies
  • Strong problem-solving and analytical skills
  • Effective communication and collaboration abilities
  • Eagerness to learn and adapt to new tools and technologies

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Familiarity with software testing and debugging techniques
  • Understanding of version control systems (e.g., Git, SVN)
  • Experience or coursework in building front-end single-page applications using JavaScript frameworks like React.js or React Native

Eligibility:

  • Able to work during one of the following periods: May 19th - August 8th or June 16th - September 5th.
  • Must be available for the entire 12-week internship period.
  • Open to students who are U.S. citizens or international students with an F-1 visa.
  •  Relocation assistance is available for eligible candidates.

Our intern positions offer a fixed hourly pay rate. Please note that the pay rate is exclusive to the internship period and may not reflect what pay may look like following the completion of an internship.

At SIE, we consider several factors when setting each role’s base pay range, including the competitive benchmarking data for the market and geographic location.

Please note that the base pay range may vary in line with our hybrid working policy and individual base pay will be determined based on job-related factors which may include knowledge, skills, experience, and location.
