The opportunity

Join our Hitachi Energy Technology group as R&D Mechanical Engineer for Dry Transformer at our Molinazzo di Monteggio location in Switzerland.

You’ll be part of a collaborative and innovative R&D community, contributing to the development of projects focused on the mechanical performance of dry-type transformers.

While prior knowledge of transformers is appreciated, it is not a strict requirement. We welcome candidates who are motivated to learn and grow in this field. You will receive comprehensive training and mentorship to build your expertise in transformer design and development. This is a great opportunity for individuals who are curious, hands-on, and eager to deepen their technical knowledge in a high-impact area of energy technology.

As a member of our highly skilled R&D team, you will lead and support projects that are critical to the successful execution of our technology roadmap.

Please submit your application in English.

How you’ll make an impact

  • Drive innovation in the mechanical design of dry-type transformers to meet demanding technical requirements for emerging markets

  • Define and execute Design of Experiments (DoE) to validate proposed design solutions

  • Design and supervision of the manufacturing and testing of the prototypes

  • Lead R&D project execution, delivering on performance, timeline, and cost expectations

  • Document project progress, obtain conclusions and derive the design rules of the validated solutions

  • Secure intellectual property rights for validated solutions through appropriate IP processes

  • Collaborate with R&D colleagues across Hitachi Energy to support and optimize mechanical aspects of other R&D projects

  • Provide targeted technical support to factories, sales teams, and customers

Your background

  • BSc or MSc in Mechanical engineering. Higher formal educational will be meriting

  • At least 2 years’ experience in product development and/or design of industrial equipment, preferably dry-type transformers

  • Initiative, creativity, “out of the box” thinking and great attention to detail
