Position Summary...

Drives the execution of multiple business plans and projects by identifying customer and operational needs; developing and communicating business plans and priorities; removing barriers and obstacles that impact performance; providing resources; identifying performance standards; measuring progress and adjusting performance accordingly; developing contingency plans; and demonstrating adaptability and supporting continuous learning. Provides supervision and development opportunities for associates by selecting and training; mentoring; assigning duties; building a team-based work environment; establishing performance expectations and conducting regular performance evaluations; providing recognition and rewards; coaching for success and improvement; and ensuring diversity awareness. Promotes and supports company policies, procedures, mission, values, and standards of ethics and integrity by training and providing direction to others in their use and application; ensuring compliance with them; and utilizing and supporting the Open Door Policy. Ensures business needs are being met by evaluating the ongoing effectiveness of current plans, programs, and initiatives; consulting with business partners, managers, co-workers, or other key stakeholders; soliciting, evaluating, and applying suggestions for improving efficiency and cost-effectiveness; and participating in and supporting community outreach events.

Sam's Club is our membership warehouse club, a business model that provides our members with high-quality products at prices that are unrivalled by traditional retail. Sam's Club provides a carefully curated assortment of items, as well as developing and leading technologies and services such as Scan & Go, Club Pickup, and home delivery service in select markets. Sam's Club also provides travel, auto purchasing, pharmacy, optical, hearing aid centres, tire and battery centres, and a portfolio of business operations support services. 

The Merchandising Technology team builds products, provides solutions and support to the merchants and business users who work on various areas like product sourcing, costing, negotiations, assortment planning, store and planogram layouts, item setup, pricing, promotions/discounts, product insights etc. The technology team is spread across US and India geographies, and works closely with the product and business teams.


What you'll do:

He/she is a responsive team player who can proactively contribute for building technical strategies for applications and systems by promoting an understanding of the technology and business roadmap.   • You will be responsible for development of merchant and associate facing applications that are used to provide the right price, assortment and promotion experience for the members.
  • You will work in our own internal open stack cloud, Azure, GCP, using several technologies including but not limited to JAVA, Spring, Kafka, Cosmos DB, REST APIs, GraphQL, etc.
  • Help define Technical Roadmap and own the entire product delivery end to end.
  • Work very closely with different product and business stakeholders at various locations in US and India to drive the execution of multiple business plans and technologies
  • Support business objectives by collaborating with business partners to define priorities, identify opportunities and drive resolutions
  • Improve, optimize and identify opportunities for efficient software development processes
  • Hire, Develop and Retain a strong team of software engineers.
  • Exhibit strong leadership and communication skills to collaborate with product, engineering and management teams across different geographic locations
  • Promote and support company policies, procedures, mission, values, and standards of ethics and integrity.
  • Lead and direct large-scale, complex, cross-functional projects by reviewing project requirements; translating requirements into technical solutions; directing and reviewing
  • Design artifacts (for example, proof of concepts, prototypes); write and develop code; oversee software design; review unit test cases; communicate status and issues to team members and stakeholders; direct project team and cross functional teams; enhance design to prevent recurrences of defects; ensure on-time delivery and hand-offs; interact with project manager to provide input on project plan; and provide leadership to the project team.

  • Retail / E-Commerce background is an advantage

Mandatory Skills:

  • An Engineering Degree - B.E/B.Tech/MS in any stream – Computer Science preferred.
  • 14+ years of relevant experience, Minimum of 5 years of experience with agile principles and practices. Experience in leading Scrum teams.
  • Hands on experience in building scalable cloud native software platforms/applications
  • Very strong understanding and experience in the area of software development lifecycle.
  • Strong Java/J2EE, .React skill ( good to have)
  • Strong understanding of Architecture, Database, Messaging , ( Kafka Services)
  • SQL/ Cosmos / Azure Data base proficiency
  • , Desired form Retail / Merchandising background Certified Scrum Master (CSM) / PMP certification preferred.

Desirable skills:

  • Experience in leading and delivering full-stack customer facing applications would be desirable
