Position Summary:

Hillenbrand is looking for a Sustainability Intern to join our team in Batesville, IN. As a Sustainability Intern, you will receive first-hand experience assisting leadership with sustainability programming, tailored to business needs and your own career goals. This may involve implementing new systems and process improvements; conducting research on external organizations, trends, and regulations; and supporting the efforts of our Operating Companies and sustainability working groups. This is a temporary, part-time internship position.

Work You’ll Do:

  • Support driving sustainability efforts through EHS, HR, Procurement, Legal, and R&D working groups

  • Taking meeting minutes and conduct research on sustainability frameworks, regulations, and policies

  • Support the marketing of sustainability offerings, including content and copy for various thought leadership materials

  • Act as a consultant to the business on potential company partnerships and charitable donations.

  • Conduct benchmarking research on peer organizations and sustainability reporting

  • Sustainability Manager (Corporate)

  • Sustainability Analyst (Operating Company)

Basic Qualifications:

  • Must have a degree, or be currently enrolled as an undergraduate or graduate student, in a formal Environmental, Business, HR, Political Science, Law or Sustainability program

  • Outstanding writing, editing, and presentation skills

  • Basic knowledge of sustainability theories, practices, and local, national, and global initiatives

  • Ability to articulate concepts both verbally and in written word

  • Detail-oriented, with excellent analytical capabilities and organizational skills

  • Highly collaborative interpersonal skills: can work effectively in a team environment and maintain composure and quality of work while under deadline

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Previous internship experience at a public for-profit company, preferably in the field of sustainability
