General Description:
Under general supervision, provides nursing care in a hospital based clinic providing care to patients with hematology and oncology diagnosis.
Essential Responsibilities:

- Chemotherapy and Administration and Consultation: Administers IM, IV, PO, SC injections, chemotherapy drugs, and other medications as ordered by physician: consults with other medical personnel and may provide expert information about chemotherapy, side effects, etc; provides a variety of assistance to physicians
- Assumes responsibility for clinic specific assignments
- Documents patient responses to nursing interventions and prescribed medical treatments, notes all changes in physician orders on assigned patients
- Assists physician during conscious sedation patients and in performing minor diagnostic procedures and treatment.
- Obtains and monitors physiological data of patients, observes the physiological manifestations of patients and intervenes when necessary
- Administers medication as prescribed. Initiates, regulates, and monitors intravenous infusions
- Conscious Sedation: including Nitrous Oxide for procedures
- Delivers patient care competently
- Interacts with family and patient in sharing care plan while in the clinic, time of discharge, and continued care via phone triage
- Informs patient and family of clinic procedures
- Patient Education: Provides chemotherapy related educational information to patients, family, etc.: answers inquiries and provides guidance as appropriate
- Makes referral regarding patient care needs to appropriate personnel
- Delegates tasks to support staff
- Patient Follow Up: Schedules patient follow-up activities related to their treatment and assists with coordination of care by obtaining referrals and completing phone calls with the patients after their clinic visits
General Responsibilities:
- Performs other duties as assigned
Minimum qualifications:
Education: Graduate from an accredited school school of nursing required. Bachelor of Science (or higher) in Nursing Board Approved Program preferred.
Experience: At least 1 year in the capacity of an RN in a healthcare Environment
License(s) Certification(s) Registration(s) Required:
- Current RN license issued by the Oklahoma State Board of Nursing, or a current multistate compact RN license (eNLC)
- Current Basic Life Support issued by the American Heart Association required upon hire
- Obtain Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) within 30 day of employment
- Obtain Association of Pediatric Hematology Oncology Nursing Biotherapy Certification within 90 days of hire
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
- Knowledge of professional nursing theory, practices, techniques and procedures
- Ability to organize, plan, coordinate and evaluate nursing services and apply nursing techniques
- Ability to maintain good working relationships with other employees
- Good verbal and written communication skills
- Ability to respond effectively to cultural and language needs of patients and visitors
- Computer skills
