Integrated Components & Solutions has an opening for a Manufacturing Engineer position within the Manufacturing Technology & Solutions team located in WTC, Chennai. The role will have a focus on technical process support for component machining requirements. The candidate will be responsible for providing technical support required to design, develop, and implement manufacturing processes/systems related to machining of various components across the enterprise. In this role you will work both independently and as part of a team to maintain and improve processes used in manufacturing.
Job Duties/Responsibilities may include but are not limited to:
- Develop, validate, and implement manufacturing process specific to machining for New Product Introduction (NPI) or New Sourcing Introduction (NSI) or New Capital Introduction (NCI) or for the improvement of existing process as per the business unit requirement which are mostly initiated for cost reduction.
- Lead & execute CAM deployment project specific to facility need. Develop/Edit NC offline Program for CNC machining using Siemens NX CAM software for components and weld structure, and which adds value in terms of People, Quality, Velocity and Cost.
- Select optimized cutting tools in collaboration with global cutting tool suppliers. (Sandvik, Kennametal, etc.). Also work with tool design engineers or suppliers for fixture design and validation.
- Validate the NC Program in real time virtual simulation software (Vericut) to avoid surprises in the real time prove out.
- Develop/edit NX Post processor development (Virtual machine tool and controller configuration) for new CNC machine purchase as part of turnkey solution.
- To align with lean and efficient manufacturing, continuously exploring the means to reduce the cycle time of the NC Program creation.
- Provide the required technical guidance to the team members for executing the projects.
- Provide engineering solutions to the product group to resolve manufacturing problems, develop turnkey solutions for machined components and support facility manufacturing engineering groups.
- Travel to facility to prove the part program, analyze CMM report, provide continuous improvement recommendation and ensure part meeting print requirements.
- Support and provide feedback for newly developed/identified technology. Execute a given task within research funded project.
Basic Qualifications
- Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Mechanical Engineering, Industrial Engineering, or Manufacturing Engineering, or Production Engineering
Technical Competency
- 5+ years of manufacturing engineering experience. Current technical skills in Mechanical manufacturing environment with CNC machine shop experience as Manufacturing Engineer.
- Experience in fixtures concept design, lifting tackles and manufacture.
- Thorough knowledge of manufacturing concepts (Lean Manufacturing, 6-Sigma, in process validations (IPV’s), Poka-Yoke design, System/Tooling Controls, etc.)
- Thorough knowledge of component machining concepts, cutting tools selection & validation and Coordinate Measuring Machine (CMM)
- Identify root causes and implement corrective actions to address Safety, Quality, Velocity, and Cost opportunities identified through projects.
- Analyze and recommend current and future systems, procedures, training, and equipment needs based upon understanding and communication with shop floor operators, operations staff, Safety and CPPD with design engineering.
- Take responsibility for documenting local Lessons Learned or Design Guides
