Role Description:

You shall provide systems and software engineering services associated with requirements engineering, engineering metrics, integration engineering, Verification and Validation (V&V), test and evaluation, and technical performance measures. The required services may include:

• conduct capability and concept development; conduct requirements analysis and development; conduct design and implementation;
• conduct V&V;
• conduct certification and support;
• plan and deliver engineering services, regulatory compliance, resource management, and project outcomes; and conduct reviews of contract deliverables.

Current domains applicable to the Capability program are:

• Requirements setting
• Verification and validation
• Engineering governance
• Networks (System of Systems)
• Security (security is sufficiently covered by the current team and S&CSPO has a dedicated security unit that does the heavy lifting)
• Safety (safety is sufficiently covered by the current team members and is a small element for ATM CAP scope)

With the introduction of the ATM CAP Tranche 2 we are going to need a candidate with experience in networking (point 4), but particularly in providing clear communication and coordination across multiple agencies (AsA, MPI, Telstra, Raytheon and Frequentis) to unblock technical issues. It would be a bonus if they have experience in requirements setting Point 1. I believe that we have good coverage of points 2 and 3. 

S&CSPO has a share-point page with role-cards for various roles. Generic functions applicable to this role are to include: 

• Engage with stakeholders, investigate systems engineering concepts, deliver and manage systems engineering specifications and resources in support of the Defence materiel capability lifecycle.
• Demonstrate systems engineering knowledge and provide advice and recommendations on the development of advancements to established engineering principles, techniques, methods and regulations.
• Investigate, analyse and report on the systems engineering defects and requirements, develop and implement recommendations and advice to address issues.
• Accountable for exercising assigned engineering authorities.
• Evaluate technical and design packages including scoping, planning, and reviewing and implement actions.
• Ensure safety aspects of APO Project materiel systems are considered and incorporated into engineering and project activities.
• Ensure materiel and process complies with S&CSPO Engineering Management Plan.
• Prepare correspondence, briefs and reports as required.

Essential Requirements:

Salary Range Depending on Experience:

$140,000 - $160,000 package
