Your New Role
Warner Bros Discovery is seeking a Director of Legal that will be responsible for handling all legal matters relating to the Shanghai Studio Tour, supporting the process of opening the Tour as well as the ongoing management and operations. The role will handle legal and business affairs including negotiating and drafting all business-related contracts, maintaining government agency compliance including safety and environmental matters and handling day to day legal matters as they arise.
Role Accountabilities
Independently provide legal advice, guidance and direction, reflecting sound judgment and substantive legal and business knowledge and expertise, to executives and staff, on all aspects of the Studio Tour and Retail business in China
Negotiate and draft a wide variety of agreements including construction, operations, safety, environmental, security, special events, ticketing, marketing, trade sales, retail, food and beverage, and procurement
Act as Legal point of contact for all operational and strategic matters, engaging with outside council and applicable Studio Tour Leadership for expert advice where required (on employment, compliance, privacy, investigations)
Provide all legal oversight and guidance for all matters relating to the Studio Tour during the construction, opening and post-opening phases
Build collaborative and productive partnerships with various departments, including Studio Tour Leadership, Retail Merchandise, Food and Beverage, Visitor Experience, and Tour Marketing, to resolve legal issues that arise with their respective teams
Work closely with marketing leadership to develop and successfully execute marketing and advertising campaigns designed to drive brand awareness and customer engagement with the Studio Tour
Review new products, packaging, and marketing materials developed for the China market to ensure rights clearance and compliance with internal policies and applicable laws and regulations
Proactively monitor all relevant local laws which may impact the Shanghai Studio Tour and propose changes to policies and processes where required
Provide regular updates to and obtain input from WBD SVP Legal Affairs on all significant legal issues relating to the Shanghai Studio Tour
Qualifications & Experience
7+ years of experience at a law firm or in-house required, preferably with a Multi-National Company
Bilingual - fluent in English and Chinese (Mandarin)
Strong drafting and analytical skills – ability to interpret contracts and other legal documents
Transactional and contract law experienced preferred
Bachelor's degree and Juris Doctorate degree from an accredited law school required
Lawyer admitted to practice law in China and in good standing
Pay close attention to detail and understand written and oral instructions
Ability to communicate effectively both orally and in writing
Strong negotiation and communication skills preferred.
Strong project and time management skills preferred - Ability to juggle multiple and complex projects, agreements, and issues at one time as a team player for Legal Affairs issues
Worked in a fast-paced environment, responding quickly to legal issues that arise preferred
Work well under time constraints, meet deadlines, organize, and schedule work effectively preferred
Communicates effectively and tactfully with persons on all levels.

Please note that this position is employed through Warner Bros. Discovery’s joint venture with Jin Jiang International (Holdings) Co., Ltd. Successful candidates will be hired by the joint venture company and assigned to work with Warner Bros. Discovery.
