As a Platform DevOps Engineer based out of our BMS Hyderabad you are part of the Data & ML Engineering umbrella of Data Platform team. The role is expected to work closely with Data Marketplace lead, supporting the Data-Mesh ecosystem. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in project management and leading data solutions on AWS cloud ecosystem, DevOps, Data Engineering, DataOps, and platform support.

Key Responsibilities

  • Work with an end-to-end platform ownership mindset, innovate and drive initiatives through completion. Support the Data Marketplace Operations Lead in day-to-day global operations and maintenance.
  • Adhere to strategic directions and policies set by the Data Marketplace Product Owner. Support the Data Marketplace Operations Lead in defining and refining Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) for Data Marketplace operations.
  • Support the Data Marketplace Operations Lead in defining, refining, and maintaining centralized standard taxonomy. Support in defining and maintaining a structured framework (ontology) in the context of Data Marketplace and related information architecture including enabling shared understanding and interoperability between technology, processes, and people.
  • Assist the Data Marketplace Operations Lead in overseeing technical development, upgrades, and maintenance. Ensure technical changes align with operational goals and standards.
  • Collaborate across teams to identify requirements, gaps, and opportunities for operational improvement. Propose and implement continuous enhancements to optimize Data Marketplace operations.
  • Conduct or coordinate training and awareness sessions for Data Marketplace users. Maintain the Data Marketplace Playbook and other documentation to ensure accuracy and relevance.
  • Manage backlogs for Data Marketplace components, Data Products, and EDM tools. Prioritize tasks to align with strategic goals and operational efficiency.
  • Maintain data integrity by preventing duplicates and managing user access and licenses. Conduct regular audits to ensure compliance and security standards are met.
  • Support incident management processes, including triage, task assignments, and progress tracking for Data Marketplace and related components. Ensure timely resolution of issues and provide stakeholders with updates as necessary.
  • Support the Data Marketplace Operations Lead in facilitating cross-functional collaboration to improve data product utilization and system changes. Support the Data Marketplace Operations Lead in aligning system change management processes with organizational audit guidelines and incorporating audit recommendations.
  • Maintain artifacts related to Data Marketplace operations in an organized and accessible manner. Ensure artifacts are up-to-date and readily available to relevant stakeholders.
  • Support the Data Marketplace Operations Lead in ensuring Data Marketplace operations comply with organizational standards and regulatory requirements. Support the Data Marketplace Operations Lead in identifying and mitigating risks associated with Data Marketplace operations proactively.
  • Monitor performance metrics and optimize Data Marketplace operations for efficiency and effectiveness. Support the Data Marketplace Operations Lead in implementing best practices to enhance operational management and user satisfaction.
  • Drive innovation initiatives within Data Marketplace operations. Continuously seek opportunities for process improvement, automation, and enhanced user engagement.
  • Provide guidance and/or hand-holding to Data Marketplace users to onboard them quickly. Provide high-quality support to Data Marketplace users, resolving issues promptly and effectively. Support the Data Marketplace Operations Lead in enhancing user engagement through proactive communication and support initiatives.
  • Develop analytics, reports, and dashboards from the Data Marketplace for audits, KPI measurements, and success metrics. Support the Data Marketplace Operations Lead in ensuring data insights are leveraged to drive informed decision-making and process improvements.
  • Continuously gather and prioritize Marketplace requirements and feedback to update the feature backlog. Collaborate with stakeholders to ensure alignment with business objectives and user needs.
  • Collaborate with Data Product Owners and Marketplace Engineers to define Metadata Models and optimize marketplace functionality. Ensure metadata accuracy, consistency, and compliance with organizational standards.
  • Analyze Data Products and Metadata to categorize them based on enterprise/domain, maturity levels, and type. Support Data Product Owners in creating, registering, and enhancing Data Products according to metadata requirements.
  • Support Data Product Owners in defining and maintaining Data Quality criteria transparently within the Data Marketplace. Collaborate cross-functionally to support building trust in Data Products by ensuring high standards of data integrity and reliability.
  • Support the Data Marketplace Operations Lead in the certification process for Data Products on Data Marketplace by collaborating with domain teams. Ensure alignment with maturity-level recommendations and compliance standards.
  • Undertake any other relevant duties assigned by the line manager or leadership. Support the Data Marketplace Operations Lead in all related activities and responsibilities as needed.

Qualifications & Experience

  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Data Science, or a related field is required.
  • Advanced degree (Master’s or MBA) is a plus.
  • At least 5+ years of experience in a similar role involving operations analysis and/or management, technical & functional support, and cross-functional collaboration.
  • Experience in managing data operations, data marketplace, or similar platforms is highly desirable.
  • Proven track record with continuous tool and process improvement initiatives.
  • Understanding of and some experience with Data and Information architecture.
  • Familiarity with regulatory requirements and compliance standards related to data management and privacy (e.g., GDPR, CCPA).
  • Exposure to risk management practices and methodologies in data operations.
  • Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with the ability to interpret data insights.
  • Proactive approach to identifying operational inefficiencies and proposing solutions.
  • Ability to work effectively in a global, cross-functional team environment.
  • Detail-oriented with strong organizational skills and ability to manage complex tasks.
  • Proven experience in technical support roles, preferably in data management or IT operations.
  • Knowledge of scripting and automation tools (e.g., Python).
  • Familiarity with data management tools, EDM tools, data catalogs, and cloud platforms (e.g., AWS, Azure, Google Cloud).
  • Advanced knowledge of Pharma data domains, pharma regulations as well as EU compliance, including GDPR and Data Privacy.  Knowledge of clinical data standards (CDISC, SDTM, etc.) and R&D Data format is advantageous.
  • Strong understanding of technical aspects related to data governance, metadata management, and data quality assurance.
  • Knowledge of ITSM tools and incident management processes (e.g., ServiceNow, Jira).
  • Experience with analytics and reporting tools for creating dashboards and reports.
  • Experience working with APIs and Structured as well as Unstructured data.
  • Solid understanding and experience in data modeling, variety of data structures, metadata management, and data quality.
  • Experience and familiarity with data-centric technologies like Spark, Kafka, AWS Analytics, AWS Glue, Cloudera Impala, Redshift, DynamoDB, Neptune, GraphQL, Nabu, ERWIN, ER Studio etc; experience with advanced visualization tools like Tableau and Spotfire is a plus.
  • Certifications in data management, IT service management, or project management (e.g., PMP, ITIL) are advantageous.
  • Additional certifications related to data governance, and data quality (e.g., CDMP, DGSP) would be a plus.
  • Ability to adapt to changing business needs and priorities.
  • Willingness to occasionally work flexible hours to accommodate global operations.
  • Fluency in English; proficiency in additional languages is a plus.
