The SMD Counterparty Credit is responsible for the framework development required in addition to the responsibilities related to counterparty credit underwriting. The SMD candidate will be on point for major framework additions, most notably (1) developing a surveillance program, (2) developing the necessary calculations for Potential Future Exposure which are different from the calculations needed for PFE in capital planning and limit setting and (3) working with Credit Risk Reporting and Analytics to develop the metrics for stress testing the counterparty credit portfolio. These duties are reflective of an SMD’s skills and influence in executing on the plans for improvement.

Job Responsibilities:

  • Reporting to the DCCO Counterparty Credit.

  • Responsible for Counterparty Credit Underwriting as a Player/Coach; (Author and Reviewer).

  • Serve as key member of working committee to implement Ernst & Young’s (EY) recommendations for Webster to bring Counterparty Credit in compliance with Heightened Standards (CCRISP project).

  • Develop the gearing metrics to determine the level and number of FTE’s within Counterparty Credit to perform the duties as required.

  • Along with DCCO for Counterparty develop surveillance program for Counterparty Credit.

  • Lead the development of metrics for Potential Future Exposure for Credit Risk, working in concert with other relevant Webster departments as needed for vetting and validation.

  • Serve as Counterparty Credit liaison with Credit Risk Reporting & Analytics in developing stress testing approach for Counterparty Credit.

  • Support the DCCO Counterparty Credit in updating policies and procedures as needed.

  • Support the DCCO Counterparty in presentations to Governance committees such as CRMC. 

  • Other responsibilities as needed.

Education, Experience and Skills:

  • Bachelor’s Degree Required-Business, Finance, Accounting or Economics preferred.

  • 10+ years of related experience- Commercial Credit analysis required with the completion of a formal credit training program preferred.

  • Strong credit skills with the capacity to evaluate strengths and weaknesses of a wide variety of entities, including financial institutions.

  • Service orientation as well as strong interpersonal, administrative, organizational, attention to detail and communication skills.

  • Good presentation skills with demonstrated confidence in conveying key concepts in Counterparty Credit and related topics as a subject matter expert.

  • Ability to prioritize work to meet deadlines and work both independently and within a team structure.

The estimated hourly range for this position is $200,000 USD to $220,000 USD.  Actual salary may vary up or down depending on job-related factors which may include knowledge, skills, experience, and location. In addition, this position is eligible for incentive compensation.
