Summary:

As the Vice President of Finance at Mullins Mechanical in Carrollton, GA, you will be the senior financial leader for a rapidly expanding, project-driven MEP construction business. As a financial partner to the President and Operations leadership team, you will be responsible for driving financial performance, ensuring margin discipline, and supporting scalable growth. Your role will focus on operational finance and project-based financial planning and analysis (FP&A), requiring significant expertise in construction finance and large, complex project environments.

Responsibilities:

  • Serve as the financial leader for a $500M+ MEP construction business executing multiple large-scale projects nationwide.
  • Partner with the President and Operations leadership to enhance margin performance, forecasting accuracy, and financial visibility.
  • Lead FP&A activities, including budgeting, forecasting, long-range planning, and performance analytics.
  • Oversee project-based financial management, including WIP reporting, percent-complete revenue recognition, job cost forecasting, and backlog modeling.
  • Develop reliable cash flow forecasting processes aligned with milestone billing and large-contract execution.
  • Provide financial insights and risk evaluation on major contracts, including projects exceeding $100M.
  • Strengthen financial controls and operational discipline during rapid headcount and revenue growth.
  • Build financial dashboards and performance metrics to increase accountability and improve decision-making.
  • Evaluate and enhance the structure and scalability of the finance function and team.
  • Collaborate with corporate finance leadership while maintaining strong operational ownership within Mullins.
  • Lead and manage Mullins’ relationship with the Kelso Finance team, serving as the company’s primary representative.

Required Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Accounting, or related field.
  • 10–15+ years of progressive finance leadership experience.
  • Direct experience in MEP, commercial construction, industrial construction, EPC, or large-scale project-based environments.
  • Demonstrated experience managing financial oversight of large construction projects ($50M+ contracts preferred).
  • Deep expertise in project-based financial management, including WIP reporting, percent-complete revenue recognition, job cost forecasting, backlog analysis, and cash flow management within large-scale construction environments.
  • Experience operating within high-growth environments, ideally in a private equity-backed organization.
  • Proven ability to lead and develop finance teams while partnering cross-functionally with operations.
  • Strong executive presence and ability to influence both field and corporate stakeholders.
  • Willingness to travel to company jobsites and the Kelso corporate office as required to maintain effective financial leadership, oversight, and alignment.
  • Serve as the primary representative of Mullins in all interactions with the Kelso Finance team. If not locally based, regular travel to the Carrollton office multiple times per week is required.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • CPA highly preferred.
  • Experience with construction ERP systems (NetSuite, ADP, Workday, or similar).
  • MBA or advanced degree.
  • Experience supporting organizations scaling significantly in headcount and revenue.
