The RVP, Managed SOC Operations, is a critical global leadership role with a strategic mandate to shape the future of F5’s Security Operations Center (SOC) through visionary leadership, cross-functional collaboration, and cutting-edge innovation.
This role transcends day-to-day operations management, focusing on setting and executing a long-term strategy that drives operational excellence, enhances customer satisfaction, and delivers measurable business impact. As a key leader in the organization, this position is responsible for defining and implementing SOC strategies, harnessing data-driven insights, and fostering partnerships across F5 to ensure seamless alignment with business objectives and evolving security needs. The leader will transform complex technical operations into streamlined, proactive, and scalable solutions, positioning the SOC as a critical driver of the company's success and growth
This role requires a visionary leader capable of transforming F5’s Managed SOC into a world-class, industry-leading operation that drives strategic value through innovation, cross-functional collaboration, and data-driven insights.
YOUR FOCUS AREAS
Strategic Leadership & Vision:
Lead the development, communication, and execution of the long-term vision and strategy for the Managed SOC, aligning with F5’s broader business objectives and security goals.
Partner with senior executives to define forward-looking security strategies and objectives, ensuring the SOC remains a cutting-edge, value-generating function for the company.
Drive the evolution of SOC capabilities by integrating AI, machine learning, automation, and advanced analytics to proactively address security threats and optimize incident response.
Translate business and security priorities into actionable operational plans that elevate the SOC’s role in delivering strategic impact across the organization.
Complex Cross-Functional Collaboration:
Act as a bridge between the SOC and key business functions, including Product Development, Product Management, Sales, Marketing, and Operations, to ensure the alignment of security operations with product roadmaps and customer needs.
Foster deep collaboration across departments, influencing cross-functional initiatives to address security challenges, align on product development, and prioritize customer needs in the overall business strategy.
Lead efforts to provide data-driven insights to key stakeholders, leveraging SOC metrics, incident trends, and customer feedback to inform decision-making, enhance customer engagement, and improve overall organizational performance.
Operational Excellence & Process Innovation:
Oversee global SOC operations, ensuring the highest standards of operational efficiency, scalability, and service delivery, while leading efforts to continuously improve processes, workflows, and technologies.
Develop and implement advanced methodologies and practices that allow the SOC to effectively manage and mitigate complex, large-scale security incidents.
Introduce innovative tools and technologies, including AI and automated response systems, to drive faster and more accurate incident detection and resolution.
Regularly assess performance metrics and key performance indicators (KPIs) to identify areas for improvement, operational efficiencies, and new opportunities for innovation, ensuring the SOC operates at peak performance.
Strategic Talent Development & Leadership:
Build and lead a world-class team of SOC managers, analysts, and engineers, fostering an environment of innovation, collaboration, and excellence across the global SOC.
Cultivate a high-performing culture by providing clear strategic direction, mentorship, and professional development opportunities, ensuring that teams are aligned with F5’s strategic priorities.
Lead initiatives to attract, develop, and retain top talent in the cybersecurity space, ensuring that the SOC remains agile and capable of responding to evolving threats.
Set and execute a vision for workforce planning and development that aligns with the long-term goals of the SOC, leveraging data insights to drive continuous improvement in team performance.
Customer-Centric Strategy & Relationship Management:
Engage with senior executives and major clients, serving as the face of SOC operations and ensuring that the team consistently exceeds customer expectations.
Lead strategic customer engagements to understand evolving needs, provide high-level resolution to complex security issues, and position F5 as a trusted partner in security operations.
Drive the alignment of the SOC’s operations with customer demands, utilizing customer feedback and insights to refine support strategies, enhance service offerings, and boost overall satisfaction.
Provide direct leadership in resolving high-priority escalations, ensuring that critical customer concerns are addressed swiftly and effectively, with a focus on both technical excellence and relationship management.
Incident Management & Strategic Response:
Spearhead incident management protocols, leading a rapid, coordinated response to high-impact security incidents and ensuring effective cross-functional collaboration.
Oversee post-incident reviews and root cause analysis to identify systemic vulnerabilities and implement preventative strategies to mitigate future risk.
Develop proactive strategies to predict and preempt security challenges, leveraging data insights and industry trends to stay ahead of emerging threats.
Ensure the SOC’s readiness to respond to incidents across a range of environments, including on-premise, cloud, and hybrid infrastructures.
Data-Driven Insights & Reporting:
Utilize advanced analytics and data-driven insights to continuously optimize SOC operations and drive impactful decision-making at the executive level.
Create robust reporting frameworks that provide clear visibility into SOC performance, incident trends, security gaps, and improvement opportunities.
Present regular updates to executive leadership, translating complex technical information into strategic insights that inform corporate security strategies, risk mitigation efforts, and resource allocation.
Ensure that data-driven insights from the SOC are leveraged to influence broader corporate strategies, including product development, customer engagement, and competitive positioning.
Governance, Compliance, and Risk Management:
Ensure the SOC adheres to the highest standards of governance and compliance, managing regulatory requirements and audits in alignment with industry standards.
Lead initiatives to mitigate risk and ensure the integrity of security operations, building a proactive risk management framework that protects the business from vulnerabilities and threats.
Align SOC practices with global security regulations, ensuring compliance and readiness for future legislative changes in the cybersecurity landscape.
Driving Continuous Innovation & Industry Leadership:
Stay at the forefront of cybersecurity and SOC industry trends, continuously driving innovation and ensuring the SOC evolves in response to emerging threats and technologies.
Position F5’s SOC as a leader in the industry, actively participating in forums, panels, and discussions that influence the future of security operations.
Lead initiatives that ensure the SOC remains a competitive differentiator for F5, driving thought leadership in cybersecurity and demonstrating the value of the SOC in protecting the business.

The annual base pay for this position is: $228,270.00 - $342,406.00F5 maintains broad salary ranges for its roles in order to account for variations in knowledge, skills, experience, geographic locations, and market conditions, as well as to reflect F5’s differing products, industries, and lines of business. The pay range referenced is as of the time of the job posting and is subject to change.
