Position Summary   

This position is responsible for all aspects of facility maintenance. The chief building engineer ensures all facility equipment, including HVAC, plumbing and electrical plants, lighting and climate control systems, roofing systems, telecommunications, food service and maintenance/cleaning equipment are operating properly and efficiently, and maintained in good condition.

Essential Duties & Responsibilities

  • Ensure proper and efficient operation of central Building Management Systems (BMS).

  • Schedule, coordinate and supervise general maintenance of facility.

  • Develop an emergency action plan for system malfunctions or breakdowns and develop corrective actions and solutions.

  • Provide technical support, oversee and/or assist with repairs and maintenance of all facility systems and equipment.

  • Ensure proper utilization of the Work Order and ASM Global Maintenance Manager systems.

  • Act as primary contact for suppliers, contractors and vendors.

  • Ensure adherence to OSHA, NFPA and other applicable safety codes.

  • Analyze facility needs and plan preventative maintenance programs and upgrades for systems.

  • Work extended and/or irregular hours including nights, weekends, and holidays, as needed. 

  • Perform other duties as required.

  • Licensed and insured to operate a motor vehicle in the United States. 

Minimum Education & Experience

  • High school Diploma or equivalent

  • Experience with computers and BMS/various automated systems

  • Minimum of 5 years' experience in the operation and maintenance of a large facility, including HVAC, electrical and plumbing

  • Specific licensing in trades such as plumbing, electrical, refrigeration, carpentry, etc. is preferred

  • OSHA training is preferred

Supervisory Responsibilities

Directly supervises employees in the Engineering Department. Carries out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with ASM Global policies and applicable laws. Responsibilities include interviewing, hiring and training employees; planning, assigning and directing work, appraising performance, rewarding and disciplining employees in conjunction with Human Resources and addressing complaints and resolving problems.

  • This position requires stooping and lifting, substantial walking and manual dexterity.

  • Ability to operate equipment such as light trucks, pallet jacks, forklifts, boom lifts, scrubbing machines or other light power-driven equipment.
