Position Summary...

We are seeking a Senior Manager, Software Engineering - iOS for a key position on Walmart’s Driver Experience group under the Last Mile Delivery initiative. Driver experience is key to the success of the Last Mile platform that powers Walmart’s Grocery, General Merchandize and Same Day Delivery propositions. We deal with driver Payments, miles driven, externalization of Walmart Core delivery services. Last Mile Delivery is expected to grow multiple times over in the next few years. In this role, you will develop highly scalable services to process millions of requests per day and solve complex software engineering problems by leveraging state-of-the-art technology. You will drive projects of high visibility across the organization.

About Team:

LMD stands for Last Mile Delivery which is Walmart’s platform Spark Program and responsible store for customer delivery with the help of mainly Spark Drivers. It provides a one-stop solution to help Walmart expand its last mile delivery network by connecting Walmart Stores to most of the US population.

Last Mile has been made available as a Service for external clients (outside of Walmart Network). This team owns and supports a complex system which is responsible for delivering more than million orders and providing best of experience to our customer, drivers and operations. It’s built upon some latest tech stack and multiple experiences powered by ML models.

What You’ll Do:

  • Oversee a team of engineers, providing guidance, coaching, career development opportunities and leading discussions to ensure adaptation of engineering best practices.  
  • Lead and inspire high-performing engineering teams.  
  • Hire and build a high performing, efficient team, and culture.  
  • Drive the adoption of coding standards, design patterns, and development best practices.  

Technical Leadership:  

  • Drive the design, development, and implementation of cutting-edge solutions.

This includes:

  • Modernizing software
  • Implementing robust monitoring and alerting
  • Automating routine tasks and improving operational efficiency
  • Enhancing system performance, scalability, and availability
  • Lead the creation and maintenance of our technical design and architecture for scalable, robust, and high-performance software aligning it with business goals and tech goals.  
  • Architect complex software systems, ensuring performance, security, and compliance needs are met.  

Software Craftsmanship:  

  • Consistently deliver high-quality software with a focus on unit testing, regular code reviews, and continuous integration.  
  • Uphold high standards in quality and operational excellence.  

Technical Documentation:  

  • Develop comprehensive technical documentation and presentations to clearly communicate architectural decisions and design options.  
  • Ensure documentation aligns with project scopes, milestones, and deliverables.  

Engineering Advocacy:  

  • Promote and enforce technical standards to achieve concrete outcomes and drive engineering excellence.  
  • Foster a culture of learning and innovation through hands-on technical guidance and mentorship.  

Project Leadership:  

  • Lead the discovery and design phase of major projects, ensuring the design aligns with business goals and technical requirements. 
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams for alignment towards solution and tech capabilities.  

Cross-functional Collaboration:  

  • Collaborate closely with Users, Product Management, UX/UI, Quality Assurance, and DevOps teams for capabilities.  
  • Communicate complex technical concepts effectively to both technical and non-technical stakeholders.  

Innovation and Research:  

  • Stay at the forefront of technological advancements, conducting research to identify emerging tools and methodologies.  
  • Write blogs to promote tech advancements and developer productivity.


What you'll bring:

  • 10+ years of working experience in Native iOS App development.
  • 2+ years of People management experiance
  • Mandatory Skills - iOS, Swift, Rx- Swift, Combine & Swift UI, MVVM, MVVM-C, Understanding to UT framework.
  • 3+ years of working experience in leading the design and Architecture for Native Mobile Apps.
  • Excellent communication, interpersonal skills and be able to articulate complex technical concepts in an approachable way for broad audiences.
  • Demonstrated high level design of systems
  • Have designed, built, and maintained Native mobile apps with large customer base.
  • Have extensive knowledge of open-source libraries, design patterns. Familiarity with CI/CD and unit testing

Minimum Qualifications:Option 1: Bachelor's degree in computer science, computer engineering, computer information systems, software engineering, or related area and 5 years’ experience in software engineering or related area. Option 2: 7 years’ experience in software engineering or related area.
