Job Description:

SUMMARY:              

Responsible for properly executing security duties on assigned shift to adequately protect the life and property of customers, Team Members and the company’s property as well as field training.  Supervises Security Officers on assigned shift and assumes duties in the absence of the Security Sergeant.  Responsible for maintaining close, continuous surveillance of all assigned non-gaming areas of the entire property.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following:

  • Interacts effectively with the public and Team Members.  Performs excellent customer service at all time.

  • Supervises Security Officers on assigned shift.

  • Escorts and observes customers and Team Members to ensure their safety and protection; identifies potential safety hazards and report same to the appropriate individual, for proper resolution.

  • Generates necessary written reports regarding security-related incidents involving customers, Team Members and/or the facility.

  • Provides leadership, training and knowledge to all new Security Officers in the Field Training Program and the refresher training provided to Security Officers I and II.

  • Participates in the field training of all new Security Officers.

  • Assumes the duties and responsibilities of Security Sergeant in his/or her absence from the property.

  • Becomes familiar with hazardous materials used on property and all applicable laws, rules and regulations governing same.

  • Acts as a Dispatcher during emergency situations and coordinates solutions to same; informs outside agencies of any unusual or suspicious situations on property.

  • Operates company vehicles as directed to do so.

  • Maintains a working knowledge of the Company’s facilities as well as special events on property in order to advise guests and fellow Team Members.

  • Ensures safe transportation of company moneys and gaming tokens; assists in the opening and closing of the gaming tables.

  • Interacts with guests and Team Members in a positive, professional manner.

  • Ensures a maximum level of customer service and satisfaction throughout the property is achieved and maintained.

  • Facilitates the flow of information by attending regularly scheduled departmental meetings.

  • Maintains effective communication to the chain of command all changes in status or emergencies within the Security Department or Casino property.

  • Maintains a series of keys, accessing locked areas as necessary.

  • Accepts identification from all persons who appear to be under the legal age, to ensure compliance with state and federal gaming regulations.

  • Assists valet and shuttle drivers as needed.

  • Assists with traffic flow.

  • Monitors all areas of the property at all times, identifying potential security and/or safety risks and reporting them to the appropriate individual or entity for proper resolution.

  • Protects company assets and integrity through the consistent, thorough monitoring of all activities on property.  Utilizes necessary equipment to identify, record, document and report illegal, suspicious or unusual activities occurring on the property.

  • Coordinates with Security Shift Supervisor when Operator discovers a matter which needs further investigation or attention.

  • Performs regular duties as a Security Corporal while not in the Surveillance Room.

  • Maintains or augments skills through review and study.

  • Maintains a consistent, regular attendance record.

  • Performs any reasonable request made by management.

SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES:

Directly supervises all Security Officers and EMT’s on assigned shift.

Carries out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with the organization’s policies and procedures, regulations, ordinances and applicable laws.  Responsibilities include interviewing, hiring, and training Team Members; planning, assigning, and directing work; appraising performance; rewarding and disciplining Team Members; addressing complaints and resolving problems and providing the necessary documentation for the above.

QUALIFICATION REQUIREMENTS:

To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill, and/or ability required.

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE:

High School diploma or GED required.

SPECIAL QUALIFICATIONS:

Minimum of one year experience in law enforcement or gaming security preferred. One year experience in Chukchansi Gold Resort & Casino security department preferred.   Knowledge of and experience with closed

circuit television equipment preferred. Excellent communication skills required.  Must be flexible in the hours, days and shifts.

LANGUAGE SKILLS:

Ability to read and comprehend documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals.  Ability to write routine reports and correspondence.

               

MATHEMATICAL SKILLS:

Ability to add, subtract, multiply and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals.

REASONING ABILITY:

Ability to apply commonsense reasoning to a variety of situations.  Ability to apply commonsense understanding to carry out instructions in written, oral or diagram form.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS:

While performing the duties of this job, the Team Member is regularly required to talk or hear. The Team Member is also regularly required to stand; walk; and use hands to finger, handle, or feel objects, tools or controls.  The Team Member is occasionally required to reach with hands and arms, and to sit; climb or balance; and stoop, kneel, crouch or crawl.  

The Team Member is regularly required to lift and/or move up to fifty pounds, and occasionally lift and/or move up to one hundred pounds.

Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus.

WORK ENVIRONMENT:

The work environment characteristics described here are representative of those a Team Member encounters while performing the essential functions of this job.

The Team Member is regularly exposed to outside weather conditions.  When on the casino floor, the Team Member is exposed to a smoke-filled environment.

The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate.  When on the casino floor, the noise level increases to loud.
