Please note: This role requires full-time presence in Reynosa, Tamaulipas for the first 6–8 months. After this period, the engineer may be based in Monterrey, Nuevo León, with regular travel to Reynosa as needed (approx. 2.5–3 hour drive). Please apply only if you are located in, or open to relocating to, either Reynosa or Monterrey.

Job Summary

This position is hardware-focused and involves hands-on support of digital industrial press equipment, including electromechanical troubleshooting, preventive maintenance, and on-site customer support. It is not a software or IT support role. The successful candidate will bring strong experience in electronics, mechanics, and field service engineering, and will work closely with customers to ensure timely resolution of equipment issues and successful press installations.

This role applies technical expertise to complex customer environments, leads issue resolution efforts, and ensures satisfaction with HP's industrial printing solutions. It also contributes to long-term account success through proactive service and strategic technical engagement.

Responsibilities

  • Perform hardware and electronics troubleshooting on industrial digital presses and related systems.
  • Apply advanced electromechanical knowledge to resolve high-risk or complex field issues.
  • Lead or support installation, commissioning, and preventative maintenance of press hardware at customer sites.
  • Provide on-site technical support and training to customers during and after installation.
  • Collaborate with internal technical teams to resolve cross-technology issues and escalate when necessary.
  • Maintain accurate documentation and provide reports on technical interventions.
  • Build and maintain relationships with customer engineering and production teams, acting as a trusted technical advisor.
  • Identify additional service opportunities and contribute to customer satisfaction and retention.

Education & Experience

  • Degree in Electronics Engineering, Electromechanics, Mechanical Engineering, or a related field.
  • 4–7 years of hands-on experience in field service, hardware support, or industrial equipment maintenance. Experience with HP industrial printers or digital press equipment is a plus.
  • Advanced English communication skills are required.
  • Comfortable working independently and traveling regularly within northern Mexico.

Preferred Certifications

  • ITIL Certification (basic understanding of service frameworks)
  • Certifications related to Electrical Safety, Mechanical Hazard Management, or Field Service Engineering

Knowledge & Skills

  • Strong understanding of electronics, mechanics, and industrial automation
  • Proficient in reading electrical schematics and resolving wiring/electronic issues
  • Familiar with test equipment, hand tools, and safety procedures
  • Experience with commissioning industrial machines
  • Basic understanding of OS (Windows/Linux), scripting, and networking for diagnostics is a plus, but this is not a software role
  • Strong communication, project management, and customer service skills
