What success looks like in this role:

  • Cloud Infrastructure Design & Management: Architect, deploy, and manage AWS-based infrastructure solutions, ensuring they meet business and technical requirements.
  • Automation & Scripting: Develop and maintain infrastructure-as-code (IaC) using tools such as AWS CloudFormation, Terraform, and AWS CLI to automate provisioning, management, and monitoring of AWS environments.
  • Security & Compliance: Implement AWS security best practices, including Identity and Access Management (IAM), security groups, VPC design, encryption, and auditing to meet security and compliance requirements.
  • Performance & Cost Optimization: Monitor AWS resource usage, performance, and cost. Proactively optimize cloud resources to achieve high performance while minimizing costs.
  • Disaster Recovery & Backup Solutions: Design and implement disaster recovery (DR) and backup strategies for high availability and business continuity using AWS services such as AWS Backup, S3, and EC2 Auto Scaling.
  • CI/CD Pipelines: Integrate AWS services with CI/CD pipelines using AWS DevOps tools like CodePipeline, CodeDeploy, and third-party tools (Jenkins, GitLab).
  • Incident Management & Troubleshooting: Quickly respond to and resolve infrastructure-related incidents, minimizing service disruption. Conduct root cause analysis to prevent reoccurrence.
  • Collaboration & Mentoring: Work closely with development, DevOps, and other cross-functional teams to ensure the optimal setup of the cloud infrastructure and the delivery of infrastructure projects. Mentor junior engineers and promote best practices.
  • Documentation: Create and maintain documentation for infrastructure design, configurations, and operational procedures.

You will be successful in this role if you have:

Skills & Qualifications:

  • Experience: 8+ years of hands-on experience in infrastructure engineering, with at least 5 years working with AWS cloud services and environments.
  • AWS Services Expertise: Advanced knowledge of AWS core services (EC2, S3, VPC, RDS, Lambda, etc.), as well as specialized services such as AWS Transit Gateway, AWS CloudWatch, and AWS Systems Manager.
  • Infrastructure as Code (IaC): Expertise in automating cloud infrastructure using AWS CloudFormation, Terraform, or AWS CLI.
  • Networking: Strong understanding of AWS networking concepts, including VPCs, Subnets, Security Groups, Direct Connect, Load Balancers, and VPN configurations.
  • Security & Compliance: Deep understanding of AWS security tools, such as IAM, AWS KMS, GuardDuty, and AWS Shield, and how to implement them to safeguard cloud infrastructure.
  • CI/CD Pipelines: Experience with AWS CodePipeline, CodeDeploy, and other CI/CD tools, enabling streamlined application deployment processes.
  • Operating Systems: Strong proficiency with both Linux and Windows server environments, with a focus on cloud infrastructure.
  • Monitoring & Optimization: Hands-on experience with AWS CloudWatch, CloudTrail, and third-party monitoring tools to track the performance and health of AWS environments.
  • Database Management: Familiarity with AWS-managed databases, such as Amazon RDS, DynamoDB, and Aurora.
  • Automation & Scripting: Proficiency in scripting languages such as Python, Bash, or PowerShell for automation and system management tasks.
  • Troubleshooting & Performance Tuning: Excellent analytical skills with the ability to diagnose and resolve complex cloud infrastructure issues.
  • Certifications: AWS Certified Solutions Architect – Professional, AWS Certified DevOps Engineer – Professional, or other relevant AWS certifications are highly preferred.
  • Communication Skills: Strong written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to explain complex technical topics to non-technical stakeholders.
