Our maternal-fetal medicine specialists offer high-risk pregnancy-related services including preconception planning, pregnancy management (primary or consultative) and delivery if patients have an underlying medical condition or an underlying issue with their unborn child. As an Ultrasound Technologist in the Maternal Fetal Medicine office, you will perform ultrasound procedures to assess high-risk mothers and fetuses and to assist the physician in accurately diagnosing diseases or injuries.

  • Is certified as a Registered Diagnostic Medical Sonographer (RDMS) in obstetrics and abdomen.

Responsibilities:

  • Performs OB ultrasound examinations on inpatients and outpatients in the Fetal Evaluation Center or at the bedside as prescribed by physician.
  • Assists Perinatologist in invasive procedures, preparing patients and filling out all necessary forms required.
  • Recognizes indications for and appropriate use of diagnostic equipment.
  • Produces permanent records of ultrasound examinations and prepares preliminary forms and reports of ultrasound findings. Presents ultrasound findings and related information to the Perinatologist/Obstetrician in a timely manner.
  • Consistently maintains a work environment which is clean, orderly and safe for patients, visitors and employees.
  • Complies with infection control practices at all times.
  • Consistently utilizes computer skills in compliance with department policy for the purpose of generating a report, billing for procedures and maintaining patient medical records.
  • Coordinates and assists with such tests as amniocentesis, PUBS ultrasound, and other outpatient procedures.
  • Consistently complies with directives of supervisors and supports the activities of co-workers to provide the highest quality service in a cost effective manner.
  • Complies with all policies and procedures of Akron General Medical Center. Demonstrates reliability in meeting deadlines and completing responsibilities.
  • Other duties as assigned


Education:

  • High school graduate or the equivalent and graduate of an accredited ultrasonography program.


Certifications:

  • Certified as a registered diagnostic medical sonographer (RDMS) in obstetrics and abdomen. Current license in the State of Ohio.
