About Accenture Cargo advisory

Accenture Cargo Advisory is a practice area within the Travel unit in Accenture, and a leading advisor to the global air freight and broader transportation industry. The practice consists of ~40 team members globally and advises many of the world’s best performing airlines, shipping lines, integrators, forwarders, airports, leasing firms, etc. A dedicated data analytics team within the Cargo Advisory practice is responsible for providing leading industry databases and analytical tools to our clients, including comprehensive air and express cargo demand & supply databases, forecast and optimization tools. This Cargo Data Analytics team operates from offices in Europe and APAC and aims to provide industry leading market intelligence products and top-class customer service to continue our steep growth curve.

About the position                                                                        

The Cargo Model is an airline network and fleet optimization tool and is part of the state-of-the-art product portfolio we offer to our clients. Launched in 2015, it helps airlines to optimize their cargo performance, network contribution and profitability. The tool helps our leading airline clients in their strategic decision-making on optimizing what cargo to sell, which partnerships to engage in, and how to design their optimal air cargo networks of the future. The tool is in continuous development, and airlines frequently reach out for guidance with their scenario-building and to interpret the results of their scenarios.

As Product Manager and Development Lead, you will lead a team of data analysts and data engineers supporting our clients using this tool, by understanding the types of business cases airlines are running and by modelling these business cases, to eventually provide actionable insights to our clients. As the Cargo Model team lead, you will drive the tool development roadmap, participate in workshops with clients and facilitate the personal development of your team by actively seeking learning opportunities. You will work closely with other data analytics and consulting teams withing the Cargo practice, and act as a member of the Cargo Data Analytics Leadership Team.

Responsibilities

Products & Innovation

  • Safeguard a high-quality standard of the Cargo Model tool, and drive the adoption of innovative analytical and technical solutions to further develop the functionality, quality and efficiency of the tool based on continuous feedback from client interactions through workshops and training
  • Oversee the support and training to existing and prospect clients
  • Monitor client usage of the Cargo Model tool and raise any issues/roadblocks early on
  • Acts as a subject matter expert for the product, collaborating seamlessly with cross functional teams involving those from commercial, legal, IT, and the rest of the data team working on different products within the organization
  • Having conversations with airline prospects to highlight the value add provided to airlines in optimizing cargo contribution

Team development

  • Manage continuous development and growth of the Cargo Model team
  • Lead and effectively manage day-to-day activities of the Cargo Model team; meet targets under tight deadlines; and foster a collaborative team environment
  • Review and evaluate analysis conducted by team members to ensure accuracy, quality and relevance to clients
  • Evaluate projects and review performance of the Cargo Model team, provide constructive feedback
  • Encourage and support career development and growth, provide and facilitate training opportunities
  • Prioritize product development initiatives and manage timely delivery of priorities at high quality

Job Qualifications

Desired Skills & Experience

The ideal candidate has strong analytical problem-solving skills and an academic degree in a quantitative field from a top tier institution. We expect at least 6 years of relevant experience (aviation, logistics is essential), with at least 3 years of experience in leading a team. Some hands-on experience in SQL and Python is desirable, and the understanding of industry concepts is required to lead the team. We are looking for a culturally sensitive manager, experienced in bridging Asian and Western cultures with the ability to effectively lead a high performing team, and who is comfortable building relations with our (senior) clients in a fast paced and international environment.

  • A Master’s degree in business / data / information / aviation management or related discipline.

  • 6+ years of relevant experience with in-depth understanding of the aviation industry, preferably in Network Planning & Strategy or Revenue Management areas.

  • Strong consulting, product management and strategy skills including data management, analytics, network optimization, econometrics, and visualization skills, with a certain amount of databases technical knowledge, e.g., SQL expertise etc.

  • 3+ years of experience in leading a team, with a strong track record of helping the team members to develop the valuable skills needed to excel at their jobs.

  • Strong (internal and external) stakeholder management skills, including ability to set achievable goals and create strategies to meet those goals.
