This role sits within the CBA Retail Banking Services (RBS) Strategy function, which is accountable for defining the strategic roadmap for the Retail Bank and creating partnerships to broaden the bank’s footprint and service offerings. We were instrumental in establishing CBA’s business partnerships with Little Birdie, Amber Electric and More Telecom.
RBS Strategy oversees the ongoing development of RBS’ strategy by advising and facilitating RBS leadership team discussions, preparing materials for the CBA Executive Leadership Team and the Board, and by collaborating on projects with leaders across the Retail Bank and the Group. This includes determining the best approach for strategic partnerships, assisting with the transaction, and overseeing the integration of the new strategic partners into the CBA ecosystem.
RBS Strategy is responsible for the ongoing success of existing strategic partnerships. This involves working closely with different partners from across RBS and the Group including marketing and corporate affairs, legal, risk and compliance, data and digital, among others. RBS Strategy also drives the sustainability agenda within RBS, and ensure our initiatives and policies are aligned with the broader Group.
Do work that matters:
The successful candidate will be leading and contributing to the success of the partnership with More Telecom and Amber Electric, an Australian-based telco and energy provider partly owned by CBA. This includes being involved in defining and executing the strategy for the partnership, developing and implementing acquisition strategies and campaigns, defining and enhancing the customer offering, identifying and solving key risks and compliance issues and working with delivery teams to implement the solution.
Key responsibilities include:
Working with the More Telecom and Amber Electric team
Working closely with other strategy, business development and delivery teams across RBS and the Group to ensure there is alignment
Engaging other business units across RBS to deliver targeted campaigns and keep abreast of their strategic agenda and be aware of interdependencies
Taking ownership of work streams/projects end to end, and independently manage deliverables
Identifying roadblocks or dependencies, which could impact specific work stream/projects and resolve/escalate to your manager as required
Analysing information and presenting it clearly and concisely for stakeholders to understand and make informed decisions
Understanding of key risks and controls around the implementation of new products and services
We’re interested in hearing from people who have:
Bachelor's degree in business, economics, science, engineering or similar fields
Consulting experience with a top tier firm OR Strategy experience within a Financial Services firm would be highly regarded, especially with exposure to Business Partnerships
At least 1 year business experience
Solid understanding of the Retail Banking industry
Ability to project manage, work independently and manage upwards
Excellent strategic thinking skills, including a structured approach to problem solving
Experience within product advantageous
