About the Role

Join us as our Head of Funds Selection at AIA Investment Management!

We are uniquely positioned to design investment linked and pension propositions that provide long term value combining AIA Investments expertise as well as our protection led propositions.

Responsibilities

  • Develop and implement external fund manager (“EFM”) selection strategies, ongoing monitoring and oversight in line with the investment governance framework for unit linked funds (“ULF”) pension and collective investment schemes (“Investment Products”) across all AIA local business units to ensure a consistent and robust approach is established and applied. This includes undertaking regular performance and attribution analysis and performance reviews with relevant investment teams to ensure the strategies are properly implemented and the performance objective are met.
  • Build strategic relationships with key EFM partners –partners which share similar investment philosophy including ESG and long-term vision with AIA and establish meaningful partnerships in terms of exchange of insights, investment solutions, industry intelligence, thought leadership and commercials.

Manage a team of professional to:

  • drive and build on EFM relationship to provide a differentiated suite of strategies that are fit-for-purpose for long-term investing to all AIA Business Units (LBUs),
  • Act as the primary conduit for all EFM due diligence, including collaborating with respective subject matter experts in Group Investments to fully leverage group resources for identifying attractiveness/ opportunity of various asset classes and perform the investment due diligence (IDD).
  • Regular Review of product providers that are not covered through general accounts, interviews with portfolio managers as necessary
  • Propose and champion strategy improvements or replacements where required
  • Provide oversight aligned with MAS outsourcing guidelines
  • Partner with GMO to develop robust performance and attribution reports which are fit for purpose.
  • Develop Fund Summary Recommendation reports, Fund Quantitative Chart Pack, Fund Talking points and various funds research publications
  • Ensure compliance with AIA’s Investment Governance Framework and relevant regulations
  • Attend to queries on managers and strategies as well as provide LBUs with recommendations to address potential investment headwinds.

    

Requirements
  • Degree in finance/ economics ideally CFA
  • At least 15 years experience in the asset management and/or investment consultant industry, with minimum 12 years in investment due diligence and manager selection and oversight.
  • Sound knowledge in equities, fixed income, multi-asset products, with an understanding of investment-linked, pensions and mutual fund market trends and movements, as well as ideally a proven track record to identify product trends and to advise in the design of products to meet investor needs
  • Proficient with Morningstar Direct, Bloomberg, MS Office
  • Strong communication skills with the ability to build relationships across the business, operations and internal and external parties at all levels.
