As a Principal/Sr. Principal Systems Engineer, you will be developing systems using current technologies and others yet to come. We are seeking team members who have a thirst for knowledge, approach each day with optimism, and have a relentless drive to solve complex problems. What you’ll get to do:

Performs technical planning, system integration, verification and validation, cost and risk, and supportability and effectiveness analyses for total systems. Analyses are performed at all levels of total system product to include: concept, design, fabrication, test, installation, operation, maintenance and disposal. Ensures the logical and systematic conversion of customer or product requirements into total systems solutions that acknowledge technical, schedule, and cost constraints. Performs functional analysis, timeline analysis, detailed trade studies, requirements allocation and interface definition studies to translate customer requirements into hardware and software specifications. Development of SW requirement verification test plan/approach. Development of SW requirement verification procedures (at all specification levels). Support to M&S scenario generation. Deployment of SW CRs on the SIL systems. Conduct formal RFR of test procedures during PMP FAT and/or SAT. Development of PMP FAT and RP SAT Test Report content

This requisition may be filled as either a Principal or Sr. Principal Systems Engineer.

Basic Qualifications for a Principal Systems Engineer:

  • Bachelor’s degree in a STEM discipline and 5 years of relevant experience; 3 years with a Master’s degree; 0 years with a PhD
  • Active Secret clearance at time of application
  • Must be able to travel CONUS/OCONUS 50%
  • Must be able to obtain IATII certification with 45 days of hire

Basic Qualifications for a Sr. Principal Systems Engineer:

  • Bachelor’s degree in a STEM discipline and 8 years of relevant experience; 6 years with a Master’s degree; 4 years with a PhD
  • Active Secret clearance at time of application
  • Must be able to travel CONUS/OCONUS 50%
  • Must be able to obtain IATII certification with 45 days of hire


Preferred Qualifications:

  • IATII certification

Salary Range: $100,300.00 - $150,500.00Salary Range 2: $124,900.00 - $187,300.00

The above salary range represents a general guideline; however, Northrop Grumman considers a number of factors when determining base salary offers such as the scope and responsibilities of the position and the candidate's experience, education, skills and current market conditions.

Employees may be eligible for a discretionary bonus in addition to base pay. Annual bonuses are designed to reward individual contributions as well as allow employees to share in company results. Employees in Vice President or Director positions may be eligible for Long Term Incentives. In addition, Northrop Grumman provides a variety of benefits including health insurance coverage, life and disability insurance, savings plan, Company paid holidays and paid time off (PTO) for vacation and/or personal business.
