About This Opportunity 

A unique opportunity to utilise your strong leadership and exceptional communication skills to lead and manage the communications function in the newly established Faculty of Health, Medicine & Behavioural Sciences (HMBS). 

In this role you will be responsible for the development, implementation and ongoing review of integrated communications and engagement activities which aim to promote our achievements and research endeavours, effectively engage our stakeholders (internal and external); and will play a key role in contributing to the strategic and operational objectives of the faculty, its stakeholders and The University. 

You will be responsible for the supervision, development and performance of a team of experienced communication and engagement specialists and will report to the Senior Manager Marketing and Communications. You will work closely with key personnel in the HMBS Faculty, including the Faculty Executive team, UQ Marketing and Communication, Advancement and key central teams, and stakeholders in the Faculty’s Schools, Centres and Institutes.

About the Faculty of Health, Medicine and Behavioural Sciences

The newly established Faculty of Health, Medicine and Behavioural Sciences (HMBS) will be an interdisciplinary powerhouse of innovation and collaboration to lead integrated solutions to the needs of the communities we serve locally and globally. UQ offers one of the widest ranges of health and behavioural sciences programs of any Australian university, and the ambition for this new Faculty will be to will be to leverage its unified suite of esteemed schools, institutes and centres to unlock opportunities within UQ and with external partners.

About You  

  • Postgraduate degree and relevant experience, or equivalent combination of experience and education/training.

  • At least five years’ experience in a communications, marketing or related management position with extensive experience in developing and implementing successful, integrated plans. A thorough understanding of current communication, marketing, engagement and content techniques.

  • Demonstrated experience in analysing trends and adapting services and programs accordingly together with a proven ability to conduct evaluations to enhance service delivery and outcomes and demonstrate return on investment.

  • Demonstrated ability to manage human and financial resources within a dynamic and changing environment, developing a high performing implementation culture.

  • Demonstrated ability to build effective relationships with Integrity, diplomacy and sensitivity in communicating with a wide range of stakeholders. Ability to work cooperatively and constructively with staff from within the faculty, its constituent Schools and Centres, and from elsewhere in the University.​
