Role:

This position designs and develops returnable and expendable packaging for individual piece parts and bulk shipping to ensure the timely and efficient receipt and delivery of material. The role will also design packaging solutions for internal logistics processes to ensure part preservation is maintained at an optimum cost. Proper packaging design includes part containment, protection, and optimization of transportation and other supply chain functions. Process partner collaboration is required for this role to ensure packaging solutions are providing quantifiable results to process owners and stakeholders. Opportunities for outbound packaging support in future years is also present.

What You Will Do:


• Establish packaging and processing specifications at the part number level for new product/sourcing introductions, cost savings, or other supply chain improvement
• Communicate with existing facilities on packaging issues related to receiving, warehousing, and/or line side delivery
• Perform cost analysis on current packaging processes and recommend changes where appropriate
• Lead Green Belt projects
• Perform activities to ensure parts are protected, shipped, and delivered to the customer in a usable fashion. Including:
o Develop packaging solutions to protect finished painted components
o Design for transport efficiency
o Perform containerization analysis, testing, and quoting
o Validate new packaging and containers during pilot phase
o Coordinate with operations for storage and ergonomic consideration
o Develop kitting packaging
o Validate returnable quantities through simulations
o Resolve safety and / or quality issues caused by current packaging
o Resolve issues reported by customers and process partners
o Develop, communicate and maintain supplier packaging requirements
o Audit conformance to packaging specification
o Joint Process Improvement with packaging vendors and purchasing
o Create packaging concepts using 3D modeling software (i.e. Pro-E)
o Customers include logistics, operations, facility engineering, quality, purchasing, and other supply chain functional areas. External contacts include global packaging vendors and product suppliers.

Education Requirement:

  • Bachelor of Science Degree in Packaging, Manufacturing, Mechanical, Industrial, or relevant
  • Advance English

What Skills You Will Have:

Packaging:

  • Knowledge of packaging tools, methods, and best practices.
  • Ability to package products and components securely, efficiently, and attractively.
  • Skill in designing engineering solutions that support all process stages, from order to delivery.
  • Preferably 3–5 years in packaging, logistics, or a supply chain–related function.

Service Excellence

  • Understanding of customer service concepts and techniques.
  • Ability to meet or exceed customer expectations through direct or indirect interaction.
  • Skill in interpreting customer requirements and translating them into tactical and strategic project plans.

Effective Communication

  • Knowledge of effective communication tools, techniques, and principles.
  • Ability to clearly transmit, receive, and interpret information.
  • Skill in collaborating with internal and external partners to gather data, obtain approvals, and secure necessary support.
  • Strong ability to communicate effectively with cross‑functional teams.

  • Knowledge of relevant technologies and their application methods.
  • Ability to develop solutions for complex technical challenges.
  • Skill in interpreting engineering and supply chain requirements to propose appropriate packaging solutions.
  • Knowledge of project management and engineering processes.

Computer-Aided Design & Engineering

  • Proficiency with specialized engineering and CAD software.
  • Ability to create, analyze, simulate, and validate product designs.
  • Skill in using engineering software or AI tools to support design or decision‑making processes.
  • Knowledge of SolidWorks or other engineering systems (e.g., AutoCAD, Inventor, CATIA).
  • Knowledge of databases and applications used in manufacturing environments.
  • Ability to operate, maintain, and update enterprise and industry systems.

Analytical Thinking:

  • Knowledge of problem‑solving methods and tools.
  • Ability to anticipate, identify, and resolve technical issues in a manufacturing environment.
  • Ability to perform data query analysis (e.g., SAS, Business Objects, MS Access, advanced MS Excel)

The location for this position is in Nuevo Laredo, MX
Domestic relocation assistance is NOT available for this position.
This position will require less than 10% travel.
